Smee's Place Bar & Grill

Always a friendly place, the food is usually quite good and the beer is cold. Worth checking out.

Disappointing. It used to be a great neighborhood bar. It now feels a little like eating leftovers. Unfortunate.

We have only eaten at Smees twice, but had different experiences each time. The first time the service, food, and drinks were amazing! The second time they closed as we arrived. It was about 2 pm in the afternoon so that seemed odd. The third time the service was still great but the food and drinks were meh. The steak sandwich had almost no meat. A single shot of vodka was $10. Which was odd since a vodka martini was $9. We will likely return but be very cautious about what we order.

I ordered food, arrived to pick it up about 20 minutes later, and then it came about that my order was sent out with a fake door dasher. Apparently nobody bothers to verify that the right order went out to the right person, and I didn’t even send it in for door dash. On top of that, these guys were closing 45 minutes early, and refused to remake the order so that they could then get out and walk on over to Applebee’s for some drinks or something. The refund hasn’t posted yet and nothing else was ever offered to rectify it. Ironically even Applebee’s would have done more.

My friends and I were looking for a hole in the wall place to make our own, and that’s when we tried SMEEs. And we were amazed! They have an amazing variety of drinks priced from low to high. An amazing selection of Bourbons! No where else on this side of town has WELLER or STAGG!!!! I highly recommend the PITCHER of margarita to share with a group. To TOP IT ALL OFF... they had an amazing variety of food. And my friends and I will be returning next weekend.

Food not as good as it once was. Mask mandate not enforced for diners or staff

I just left Smee’s and it was the worst service I have ever experienced at the restaurant. There were 2 tables outdoors with 2 patrons each and 4 tables indoors with 2 patrons each except me at a table for one. There were two servers and a bartender. The food was good however the service was poor. The server was rushing around but neglected to check on my drained iced tea glass, twice. When I asked for a dessert menu, she told me what they had. I ordered dessert to go and a box for the rest of my sandwich, I signed the bill. 20 minutes later, I finally took my plate to the bar and waited until she noticed me. To once again request a box and the dessert. She went into the kitchen. Another server asked if I had been helped and I calmly explained. The original server came out with a box but no dessert. I once again said I was also waiting for the dessert to go. She went back to the kitchen and then came out a few minutes later and said a carry out order took the last dessert I ordered. I said I was done and put the sandwich in the box and began to leave. The other server asked if I was alright. I said no, that I was mistreated and will write my complaint in the review. I am a frequent restaurant diner. I normally tip good service at 30% because I worked in the service industry throughout high school and university. With the pandemic, I tip at 40% because the industry and workers have been hit hard and I admire hard-working people.

Great drinks, food, atmosphere. Pan fried basa was great. Kettle One martinis even better! A regular eating spot and will be back again.

Great service, very friendly and answered all questions. Food was delicious. Will be back when in Indy.

My wife and I had a wonderful evening at Smee’s. We sat outside and the tables had the feel of a Paris cafe. Our server was very nice and attentive. I got the blackened salmon salad and my wife got a side salad and onion rings. I loved my salad, I would definitely get it again. I believe I got the peppercorn dressing and it was perfect. I highly recommend Smee’s Place if you’re in Indianapolis.

I love this place. The food is always good, the service is excellent, the employees are friendly and helpful. It's so warm and cozy, it's like going to a party with friends. I have never had a bad meal there in all of the years they have been open.
