Its crazy how many times I felt like I've seen this same menu lol. So its like the matrix has a glitch when I try a new Mexican restaurant. This is not the same El Maguey that I'm used to and I'm not sure if they have any affiliation. But this one was better than my usual one. The Texas chimichanga was so big and delicious. It had steak, chicken, and shrimp in it. I may have gotten a full 7 bites in. The rest had to come home in a to go box. My girlfriend ordered the Mar y tierra. She loved it. Neither one of us had Spanish rice that good in a long time. We could barely eat our food for loving on the rice. The service was pretty good despite the language barrier. There was someone interpreting back to our waitress. And she continued to check on us and make sure our drinks were filled through out the night. From what I heard the patrons weren't speaking English either. Music was going and there was a Spanish version of family feud that I honestly couldn't turn away from. We were the center of attention for the first few moments unintentionally. But after a while the hard stares stopped. Overall the food was SOOO fresh. Fast. Seasoned. Spot on. This clearly the superior El Maguey lol

Authentic Mexican food, have been coming for several years. It is always a lively place. However, I cannot comment on any dishes other than the Tres Marias enchiladas... están riquísimasss. I believe they hand make the tortillas here and have a pretty good selection of aguas frescas along with bottled and fountain drinks.

Update 9/29/21: I have tacos cabeza and they were perfect! The tortillas are authentically hand made white corn maiz Blanca. My girlfriend had the caldo de res. She said it was "absolutely delicious"!

I had heard of this place but just got a chance to try this out for myself. The menu was non stop full of deliciousness. Started off with the taco's beef and spicy pork that were fantastic. Didn't leave me much room for the empanadas but my daughter loved them and I did enjoy a bite or two. Highly recommended

You can't ever go wrong with authentic Mexican restaurants. I got the Mar y Tierra plate which had chicken, carne asada and shrimp plus rice and frijoles. It was so good! I went another time and got their tacos. They don't miss. Such a good place to either eat in or carry out.
HOLY SHIZA. this amazing restaurant on the west side of Indianapolis is absolutely phenomenal. I left very happy and very pleased! The serving sizes are huge, and every bite is delicious. I ordered the menudo -- which was absolutely phenomenal. I ate my fill and still had about 3/4 of the bowl left. My boyfriend ordered the chilaquiles and he was so pleased with how delicious they were. This place also has homemade tortillas!!! All around a phenomenal place and I'm so incredibly happy that we chose it for lunch today!

They have amazing tacos! It is a great place to get It's chewy and juicy it's one of my favorite taco place. Last time I went to go but this time I went in and eaten. The customer service great as well The bathroom was really clean too.

El maguey has the best steak tacos I've ever had, all the other tacos are good too but the steak is amazing. It's a little far west for some but it's absolutely worth the drive (also 38th is always quick). Such a cozy place with great prices and great food. Also maybe it's just me.. but tacos aren't complete without Valentina and they keep a bottle at every table. What more could you ask for??

Sent my Daughter to get a carnitas sope with rice & they give her a steak sope with rice inside the sope instead of on the side. I called up there & the kid keeps hanging up on me. Unable to get what I really wanted & ordered. Not happy

We didn't hate this place, but I wouldn't make any effort to go back. The guacamole was completely tasteless. The chorizo was strangely sweet tasting. There were no refills on drinks unless you wanted to pay again. It just wasn't great.
