Stopped by for lunch today and Taste is closed, appears to be permanently. Signs are down and no indication it has moved location. I'm so disappointed that Taste stayed open through all the red line construction on College - their lunch business took a huge hit - and closed so soon after the roads were (mostly) open. I will miss it. If anyone has info about relocating, please post.

We had not been to Taste in a long time and I was so disappointed to with our experience. I was turned off by the service and cleanliness before our food even arrived. Our family wanted to sit outside and the tables were dirty. I asked one of the workers if she could clean off the table so we could sit there. She replied, "Sure! (Which I thought was nice and appropriate) and followed that by "when we can get to it". She never got to it. We had to move inside on a beautiful Sunday morning. The outside tables were still dirty and cluttered with dirty dishes when we left. The bathroom had no soap. It makes me wonder how the employees wash their hands thoroughly before returning to work. Our fries had a hair in it. And the truffle fries are not what they used to be. Just bland. Overall the food quality was average. I had the avacado toast and the bread was hardly toasted-mostly soggy and the avacado on top had brown spots in it and still the pit. Sad to see Taste has gone so downhill. We will not be back. Customer service is awful.

Is this under new management? I used to frequent this restaurant and loved it. Went there recently and totally different place food was meh 14.00 for a waffle. The staff seemed super uninterested in working and the damn maroon cd playing same few songs. Super sad. Website also was no longer working so seems new owners or just went down hill.

So sad this used to be my favorite spot. I used to always get the truffle toast and pasta salad. Pasta salad was just gross as can be . Truffle toast was below sub par . Idk what happened to this place

The service was slow, the girl taking our order didn't seem interested in working at all. While there were others waiting in line another girl working was sitting at the end of the bar on her phone and never helped. The breakfast sandwich was just ok but the fruit plate that came with it was worthless. Chopped up strawberries with the green stem still attached just shows how lazy the workers here are.

Used to have really great brunch, but has gone way downhill. The employees could care less about service, the food takes forever, and the quality is gone. Such a bummer, used to love this place.

Updated Review 6/14/19, 3*: This place has started to decline. The pricing is still expensive but the quality of the food is starting to go downhill. It takes much longer to get food now and the place is not as clean.

I was finally able to eat lunch here and I have to say I absolutely love the food and the staff treated me like family! I love the atmosphere and can't wait to enjoy the patio this summer!

Met a friend here for Sunday lunch and it was the perfect place for a rainy afternoon. This restaurant is bright and lots of comfy seating. The menu is vast and includes vegetarian and gluten free options. They also have lots of coffee, teas and beverage options. I got a portobello sandwich and it was delicious. Also ordered a green juice for the road!

I went into this place with an order for 26 people. Yes , 26! They had the order ready to go on time with everything correct and labeled! So helpful, so thoughtful. They made it super easy for me and I am so grateful as traveling in a strange town and trying to get that much food for that many can be very stressful. Huge shout out to the staff there-you are awesome!!!

What happened? Is my question.

I agree with all of the recent reviews that report this once great restaurant option in SoBro, Taste--A Marketplace, has gone seriously downhill. I've been coming regularly since it first opened. I've brought colleagues, hosted celebrations and work luncheon meetings. My family has eaten here often with me. In other words, I've collected a lot of data. The menu is mostly unchanged over the years and the "specials" board lists items that are rotated and offered frequently. Even though the offerings did not change very much, you could always count on the food being excellent and the service very good (yes, it's counter-ordered but they bring meals to you). About two years ago I noticed a decline in consistency and quality. Then the food simply became poorly prepared and of low quality most of the time--to make matters worse, they don't seem to know why people complain. There may be some dishes that are still great (among the best pommes frites in town), but almost everything else I've had in the last two years has been poor--fewer ingredients, bland taste, major ingredients left out altogether (not as listed) or only a whisper of them appears. And it's bad whether it's busy (which it never seems to be anymore) or dead. Did the chef-owners management model change? This is not the place that was reviewed by Indianapolis Monthly and The Indianapolis Star over a decade ago. I'm very sad to write this review but it's consistently poor now. Today I had a meal at Taste for the last time. Giving 2 stars as it's not as bad as my worst restaurant experience. (Honestly management, why aren't you responding to these reviews and trying to get better?)

This place used to be so much better. Gave it another chance and was disappointed still. The cold pressed juice was warm, avocado in my sandwich was brown and ruined the sandwich. Not sure why anyone would serve it. The person at the counter struggled with out order and i had to repeat it several times. Way overpriced for quality of the food they're putting out these days. Sad from a place that used to be so good.
