I was blown away by how good the service was at The District Tap. My colleagues and I chose to have dinner here last minute on a Friday night while attending a trade show in the area. It was very busy downtown, and this restaurant was as well, yet we were seated right away and received extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful service. The drinks were reasonably priced and excellently mixed (I had a specialty cocktail that was a type of mezcal sour, as well as modified Manhattan, and both were fantastic). I started with a Bavarian pretzel that was fresh and delicious, followed by baked salmon that was also very good. My colleague ordered lemon-pepper wings and he said they were some of the best he's ever had. If I lived in the area this would be a regular haunt of mine, but I'll have to settle for swinging by every time I'm in town instead.

Honestly, this place is great. If we're in Indy, and we usually are at least once a month, it's hard to convince my husband that we should try another place in the city. But we had an experience last Sunday that's soured us on visiting again. We showed up Sunday evening at 9p - it was late, and I own that, but we had driven from Chicago - to discover a sign on the door that stated that they'd closed at 6:30p for maintenance. We had called several times as we were driving to check the hours for the day and didn't get an answer. I guess that should have been our first clue. Having an outgoing message stating your adjusted hours would have been so helpful. Instead we were left looking for an alternative at that late hour, and there wasn't much to be had.

Enjoyed a perfectly cooked center cut sirloin with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The servers were doing an amazing job keeping up with a packed house. Food came out on time and was delicious. Definitely will visit again if in the area.

The food was great. The service was lacking. We were seated in the back room, directly next to a mousetrap that my foot managed to kick. That was gross. Pretty sure being seated in the back room the wait staff just forgets you exist because you are closed off from the main dining.
Didn’t order any food but they serve flights so I indulged, while watching some games on TV. They have an excellent selection of various beers. They were all great. Service was great, the barkeep even let me sample a couple other beers he thought I’d like. He was right! The bar wasn’t overcrowded but it was bustling. Glad I dropped in.
