Very disappointed with the customer service at The Melting Pot in Indianapolis. We had a reservation tonight for five people and were excited to try the restaurant for the first time through the city’s Devour program. Our original plans were canceled last week due to a major snowstorm, and the official Devour page announced the promotion was extended through February 5 because of the city-wide bad weather.
When we called tonight to confirm our reservation, we were told the restaurant was no longer participating in Devour and would not honor the promotion. As a result, we canceled and went elsewhere. Poor customer service and a missed opportunity to welcome five first-time guests. Unfortunately, this left us with a very negative first impression.

I had a reservation, but upon arrival the lobby was extremely crowded, and there did not appear to be any urgency in seating guests. I was seated approximately 15–20 minutes after my reservation time. While I understand that delays can happen, there was no communication provided about the wait. After being seated, I waited an additional 15 minutes before being acknowledged by our server. Although she was pleasant, the overall service throughout the evening was exceptionally slow. My four-course meal lasted nearly four hours due to long gaps in service. My server would check on me and then disappear for 25–30 minutes at a time. Drinks were never refilled, and several items were forgotten even after reminders. At no point did it feel like my table was being actively managed. I chose The Melting Pot expecting an enjoyable, relaxed dining experience, but the excessive delays and lack of attentiveness made the evening frustrating rather than special. I wanted to bring this to your attention, as this experience did not meet the standard I expected.

It was a fun experience. Very overpriced for the amount of food you actually get. Just adding the cheese course was almost as much as the entire Devour menu.

We had a great evening at the Melting Pot - Castleton! I booked the reservation through OpenTable for a Saturday night during Devour Indy Winterfest, I knew it would be busy. Despite arriving a few minutes early, we were seated within 15 minutes of arrival, the hostesses were polite and on-top of things. Our server was Cantrell, he was very knowledgeable and personable, and provided us with a great experience. He kept our meal moving along (all four courses) and kept our drinks filled. All in all, a great experience, and we'll be back!
