The venue hosted my wife and I’s baby shower and it was a great experience from start to finish. Kayla was great, communication was consistent and the space provided everything we needed!

Maybe because we went here on a Devour weekend (which we weren't aware of), they were struggling more than usual. We had an 8 pm reservation. When we arrived we were told the kitchen was backed up and they couldn't seat us. There were plenty of tables available, so we asked if we could just sit at our table and order drinks. The hostess told us she wasn't allowed to even seat people. With that, after standing a while, we were able to get seats at the bar. We noticed that the entire place was very smoky as if there had been a fire in the kitchen. It was like this the entire time we ate, which made it kind of hard to breathe. On top of the burning smell, it was also really hot. Anyhow, as expected, service was pretty slow, but the two bartenders were doing the best they could. Overall our food was pretty good, but there were some issues. The cocktail menu was handwritten (tacky). The shrimp and grits app came out cold. The salads seemed to have been sprinkled with a bunch of salt, and the noodles in my pasta weren't quite done. The place has real potential but has a lot of kinks to work out.

This event space is perfect for a small wedding reception! The food was amazing and the service was spectacular. Everyone had a great time! The menu include chips, salsa and guacamole for appetizers and tacos for dinner with rice and carrot sides. There is space for a short and small dance floor area - it was perfect!

Tried the Vanguard for the first time. We got their To-Go family meals (chimichurri steak and chicken Alfredo). Both were delicious and generous portions. Very happy and will definitely order again.

The Vanguard is back open as an event space with a special menu on Wednesday for those wanting something a little different. The space is great for any type of function and the staff is friendly. The bar is fully stocked with mostly top self alcohol. This ensures you will have a great beverage every time. There were 3 featured cocktails on the list and I chose the Fire Shrub. This drink was absolutely amazing. It had a great amount of sweetness and a great spicy jalapeno taste and feel. The OB (fish sandwich) was massive and had great flavor. This sandwich came on a brioche bun with a great array of toppings. This is a place worth visiting on Wednesdays from 5-10 and on Saturday for Brunch.

So I am super excited go to to this place. Never been. Sounds AWESOME, you know....the works. So there is a random guy at the door asking for $10 bucks(only cash) to get in....no Vanguard swag, shirt or nothing that says he works there. So I am completely thrown off and mention this to him. So my friend and I are sitting at a booth waiting for the "buffet" so we can eat. I'm starving because it's a all you can eat buffet so I purposely didn't eat much, right, thats what people do? So we are waiting and waiting and finally the "buffet" is open. There are wings (somewhat hard), mac & cheese (in a crock pot), a few vegetables with dip and I want to say that was it but I am sure I am missing one more thing. Yes I a disappointed. AND WE NEVER HAD A SERVER AT OUR TABLE. My friend went to the bar to get water. I tried to get my own pitcher but was helped (thank goodness) by the front door guy who was doing 17 roles. Very nice guy.Wait for it........there was a young group (barely 21) throwing back champagne like water. Yep.....one of the guys clowned leaving the place. Didn't want to leave his drink.....actually had a glass of mimosa ready to leave with it. He is arguing back and forth with the nice guy, like he wants to fight. Gulps the drink and drops the glass on tje ground where it shatters. Yep. I am in awe. I am trying to enjoy my brunch. So nope I will never go back to this place that could have been great. Nice venue but not great service.The D.J. was AWESOME.......loved it.

Vanguard is becoming one of my fav restaurants in the city! The staff is friendly and attentive. Their drink specials are affordable and diverse. The bartender Scott is so quick and helpful! The food is delicious. You don't get a lot of food for the price but the quality of the food outweighs the quantity. Portion size is why this review only got 4 stars. Now don't get me wrong I'm not expecting an all you can eat buffet, but can I get two pieces of chicken w my chicken and waffles?! Sunday's are my fav time to go. From 2-6p they have The Brunction. Two DJs spinning a variety of music and that makes my heart happy. The space is inviting and lux. They have a full bar. The music they play is chill and low enough to have a great conversation with friends. I recommend you try the Vanguard at least once. Located just off the main strip in Broadripple above the Casba. Come enjoy some good food and a nice cocktail!
