We have been to Wisanggeni many times and absolutely love their food and staff/owner! I am vegetarian and love the To haven't, Gado, and Bakmi Jawa. My partner is Halal and enjoyed the Chicken Satay, Soto Ayam, and Hibachi Meal. The service is always very friendly and supportive of a diverse community. Will always be on our reliable go-to list! Photos are from our most recent visit (chicken Tongseng and veggie Gado)

The tastes is great. One of the best Indonesian restaurant in Midwest. They have rendang, duck, martabak and local snacks from Indonesia. If you want to try Indonesia's cuisine, this is the right place for you.

The Chicken Satay, Martabak Manis, and iced coffee are all amazing, but the service and connections we made here went far beyond the food. Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience.

As travelers, we've had food from all over the world, but Indonesian is a bit harder to find in the states. We were happy to have found Wisanggeni and surprised further at how good they are. My husband and I ordered the duck and beef main dishes, chicken satay and lumpia. For drinks he ordered the iced coco drink and I the lychees tea. Everything was amazing and the flavors were bold and brought my flavor palette back to life. There's a little corner in the restaurant that they sell Indonesian snacks/foods/drinks to bring home. They even had some cool T-shirts for sale by the register that I really enjoyed but I couldn't find and prices for them. My only complaint was the prices ....they felt a smidge higher than they probably should have been. That and the tavern next door had an outdoor tent that was really rambunctious the day we went- blaring music and people yelling/cheering outside really kind of brought down the mood. That's not the restaurants fault at all I know, but regardless it was unfortunate. If you or a friend/partner are looking for something different to try and have a bit of extra spending money, I'd really suggest this place. (Just maybe not during 'Game Day')

Went to try Indonesian food before traveling to Jakarta. The owner, who is from Jakarta, is very friendly and the food was awesome. We will be back for sure.

The restaurant is very clean. Wait staff was very helpful navigating the menu and making suggestions, and the Martabak for dessert is a must!

It may sound odd, but I was so happy that the food presentation actually matched the pictures!

We went here for a Friday dinner. The parking lot was packed because of the restaurant next door, but we found a spot and went inside. This being my first time trying Indonesian food, I wasn't really sure what to expect since my only experiences with it were on YouTube videos. We ordered the Duck, Red Snapper, Lumpia, Bala - Bala, a Mango Latte, and Ube pancake for desert.

Since Indonesian food is complex to prepare, I expected to be here for a couple of hours. I was flabbergasted at how quickly the food actually came out! Everything was awesome. The the complex flavors, the homemade toppings on the rice, the small seasoning dishes; you could tell a lot of effort wen into preparing our food, and the presentation was immaculate.

I'm not sure where to begin about the food since it was all so good. What I will say, is you absolutely have to have the Ube Pancake (Ube Martabak Manis). It blew our minds!

I absolutely recommend this place, and we will be going back!
