White Castle has a rich history, founded in 1921 by Billy Ingram with just $700 and a dream. The now-famous small, square hamburgers, nicknamed Sliders, quickly became a hit. In 1954, an employee named Earl Howell suggested adding five small holes to each patty, allowing the burgers to cook faster and absorb more flavor. This innovative cooking method has been a part of White Castle's unique approach ever since.
