Was pleasantly surprised by the relaxed atmosphere and very kind couple that runs the restaurant. To put it simply, I scarfed my food in about 30 seconds. The mac and cheese was creamy, and the meat was tender and flavorful. I would love to start going regularly.

I got the brisket with Mac n cheese, baked beans, and potato salad. Everything was fantastic. I wasn’t big on the brisket seasoning, I prefer the cracked pepper taste. It kinda reminded me of a1 but better (definitely wasn’t a1). The baked beans were slightly too sweet but taste great. Mac n cheese was good and the potato salad was one of the best I’ve ever had! Not sure what kind of bbq they use but it is delicious! The people are some of the friendliest around. The inside is filled with local African American history which is incredibly interesting. I’m happy to support this black owned business and will definitely be back!

I don't think they are making the BBQ here, but regardless. Prices extremely fair, had some brisket and ribs, I'm from the south and it was a tasty

Being from KC, I wanted to try something while in town. Nice little joint, friendly service and great food. Asked if I was from KC because I was wearing a Royals hat and of course I said yes. The guy in the kitchen, which I'm assuming was the owner said "I got something special for you, not on the menu but want you to try it". Well it was a sampling of different meats, and I have to say they were really good. The pulled pork was awesome, the chicken was stolen by my daughter, so I can't rate that one but based on her stealing it, I'd have to say it was good as well. The burnt ends were tender, tasty and done right. Since I didn't get to try anything else (sides, meats, etc.) I can't say 5 stars but next time I'm back in town, I'm going to complete the menu and rate it again. Also only one option for the BBQ sauce and he mentioned his previous batch wasn't up to his standards, which I truly appreciate the honesty on that. Looking forward to trying the favors I missed out on. Have to say, in all my travels one of the coolest little places, great food and friendly service and an owner who just wants to give you his best.

Came across this little gem today and I'm happy I did. It had a very relaxed atmosphere with bits of African American history on the walls. I got me a sliced brisket sandwich with baked beans and Mac n cheese and let me just say this sandwich was STACKED with delicious tender brisket slices that was mouthwatering on its own but then it came with a side of sauce that was tangy but the perfect compliment to this sandwich. This is definitely a spot to try out if you haven't.
