On a good note, we had excellent service! Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive! She was kind enough to ask the bartender if they could make me a peach Bellini, which they did and it was awesome! Unfortunately, the food was only so-so at best. Our adult grandson was highly disappointed in the carbonara, which contained huge hunks of uncooked bacon. It was as if they chopped it in a stack and failed to separate it while cooking! He ate maybe a quarter of his entree. My husband had the chicken parmigiana and I had the eggplant parmigiana. Ours were decent, but nothing special. We felt the entire meal was overpriced for what we received.

I had the shrimp scampi and it was good, not great. For dessert I had the chocolate bomba and it was fantastic. I've had many meals here and it's always good to great. Good selection of beer and wine, they have hard liquor too. I highly recommend Carmela's.

The food is amazing, we were in town for 3 days and had breakfast lunch and dinner here. Amazing wine selection, and desserts are out of this world! Every server is top notch and prompt. The owner was extremely involved and inviting. Carmela thank you for having us.

My husband and I wanted to try somewhere new for his Birthday. We both like Italian, so, I searched on-line. Carmelas looked good, so went went. WE WILL BE GOING BACK!!! GREAT food, GREAT service, I can't think of a thing they could do to imrove it!!

Salmon portion and broccoli green bean pepper onion veggies were very good. Salad had a lot of Romain stems/ribs in it., which I don't include when I make salad. Lettuce texture seemed very dry, not brown, just dry, no moisture ...too much lettuce for the veggies in it. Desserts were very good.

First of all, it was the BEST chicken Marsala I've ever had, hands down! The cocktails were strong and generous, the Caesar salad was delicious, as was the calamari. Our server, Lisa, was the best. Wish we could clone her in every restaurant we frequent. If we are ever in South Bend again, we will be back!

We have been coming here for years. Previously their menu was large, but in the last coulpe of years they have adopted a much smaller menu. Food choices for our party of 4 were all good, and our waiter was excellent. But we remember the "old days" so we were mildly disappointed.

The staff clearly showed sensitivity to us as we were celebrating a unique and very special occasion. Despite the full and perhaps overflowing crowd, we were served well and without delay.
