Baum's Bridge Inn is an institution in Northwest Indiana with its down-to-earth, rustic, no-frills vibe. It's everything you'd expect with a bar in the Midwest in all the best ways. The staff are very friendly and attentive, the food is good, and it's a very spacious bar. Baum's also has an assortment of very talented musicians playing at their bar every week.
I do not know why this place was not filled on a Friday night. Food was SO good. Simple salad with crisp iceberg, green peppers, and italian dressing was a terrific starter. Lake perch was $3 more than AYCE ocean perch, but I could not have eaten more than I was served and it was delicious! Baked potato with butter and sour cream. Under $20. Drinks were good, too. My husband has been missing ayce fish frys since the pandemic. We heard that Baums Bridge Inn still had them. I called to see if they would be able to accommodate my gluten diet. I talked with the cook, Katie, and got things worked out. We went on Friday evening, my husband ordered the ayce walleye and ocean perch dinner and I had the lake perch cooked gluten free.
