We attended a benefit event on 7/27/04. The drinks were flowing, food was great, the bands killed it, but what stood out was the staff. The staff was on their A game! Smiles the entire evening, making sure everyone was taken care of and when you ordered something it was there in a flash. Kudos to everyone at the Checkerboard for a fun night and successful event. Definitely coming back next time we’re in town.

Do not recommend coming here. First time here not even fifteen minutes of being at this bar someone was shot. Not a safe place to come. There has also been a stabbing at this bar too. The only good thing is the bartender. She handled herself so well and composed so well. I don’t know how I would’ve reacted if I was her. Gizelle definitely deserves a raise.
