My husband and I dined at La Scala for the first time last night with a reservation. Service was prompt, food arrived quickly and was fresh, our server was knowledgeable about the menu and restaurant. We both loved everything we ordered! We will definitely be back.
Found mold in food twice already. Customer service is very unprofessional. Families food was found cold and uncooked, plates and silverware were not clean and when asked about it, the management got defensive and said “thats how it looks normally” no scratches, literal food stuck to silverware. Lafayette health department really should run an audit in this restaurant because that’s not even all of the nasty things about this place.

Same level of Italian food as Fazoli’s but Fazoli’s has better breadsticks.
Never will I ever eat here again.
It’s an overrated Italian restaurant. It’s just mediocre. I live at Purdue for four years and heard good reviews about the restaurant. I love Italian food and also cook . However, the first time experience is not good as my expectations. The lemon fettuccine was just okay and did not have enough layers of flavor. I may not come back considering the price and it needs reservation. Lafayette area has no authentic Italian food. I prefer Olive Garden if I want to eat pasta.

I took someone out for their birthday and they got the lemon fettuccini and it tasted like lemon pine-sol and the gnocchi was cooked nicely but it was sitting in about an inch of olive oil. This was the only bad experience I’ve had there but it can be quite inconsistent. The waitress was very nice and professional.

The food was amazing! Beautifully plated, tasted incredible, and felt super authentic. Can't complain at all about the food, the atmosphere is nothing special but you can sit outside. We may do that next time!

Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. However, despite having a reservation, we had to wait for a while to be seated. Food was bland, we ordered alfredo and pasta fresca and they both tasted… the same. bacon brie was decent for an appetizer, but the cheesecake was underwhelming.
Furthermore, since the restaurant was kept at a cold temperature with the fan running on high, our food was cold before the first bite (we asked if it could be turned down. it could not).
overall, an underwhelming experience.

My fiancé and I moved here a few months ago from Canada and La Scala was highly recommended to us by some colleagues, so we finally thought to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was quite bad… bad enough that we won’t be returning. While the service was fantastic, the food and drinks were not, and ultimately as such, I disagree that this an “authentic Italian” restaurant.
I ordered a lavender fields cocktail and was expecting something light and floral, but what came was a drink that tasted solely of lavender simple syrup - it was so sweet that even after I managed to get a sip down and further dilute with water, it was still too sweet to even bother. It really tasted like nothing but artificial sugar.
As for the food, we started with the caprese salad which is traditionally just supposed to be tomato, mozzarella, and fresh basil, but a huge dinner-sized bowl came out with lettuce and olives too? Not necessarily complaining about it - it tasted fine, but it just simply was not a caprese salad. For the main, I had the shrimp and lobster ravioli. While it looked delicious, the cream sauce was so unbearably sweet that I couldn’t stomach it. Half the shrimp were shrivelled - it seems as though they were from frozen - and there were so many sun dried tomatoes in the sauce that it became hard to chew. I think my fiancé ordered a brasato pasta, which tasted fine in my opinion but was more of a Hungarian goulash than an Italian dish. I forget why he didnt like it but he didn’t finish his plate (and that’s a first - this man will eat just about anything).
La Scala, I am so sorry for the bad review… but we really love food, and this was just disappointing.
All in all, the service was amazing and we really wanted to like it, but since we’ve had other excellent food in Lafayette, La Scala just didn’t come close to hitting the mark.

Actually we had a confirmed reservation, but when we arrived , we discovered a note on the door saying that they were closed! We so wished the owners had turned off the auto reservation part of the site or posted on the site that they were closed for vacation instead of " open tomorrow at 5"

Truly enjoyed the amazing food and service at La Scala. With a large party of 8 we made reservations a week before and had a central table in the old building. They even let us hang out chatting late. Everyone loved their food which was filling and delicious ? ❤️
