We were loyal customers until last night, had an unpleasant experience being grossly overcharged with prices that did not match what was listed on their menu and will not be coming back after that treatment. The owner gave us some bs excuse about their graphic designer and something being wrong with their liquor license, it felt pretty hostile and sketchy.

Unapologetically overcharged us and threatened to get nasty about it when we pointed it out. Go here if you want to get majorly screwed out of your money for very mediocre food and drinks. Also the raging horse decor was unsettling.

The steak fajitas were good. The salsa was also good (hard to find good salsa.) The waitress was very nice. The mariachi music was a little too loud for me. All in all, would eat here again.

We were driving from Chicago and looking for a place to grab a lunch as authentic and delicious as what we can find in our Logan Square community. Los Potrillo’s didn’t disappoint! A cheerful atmosphere, incredibly hardworking owner who also served our food (she told us that one of her staff members was making homemade corn tortillas in the back!), and honestly some of the best pozole I’ve ever tasted. We were surprised to be the only diners in the restaurant, but this shouldn’t be a well-kept secret. It should be a hopping place where patrons are willing to wait in line for a table because the food that darn good. Seriously, give it a try next time you’re craving a solid Mexican meal. Amazing!!

Driving through Lafayette, IN and stopped by for dinner. What a great meal! We ordered guacamole, jalapeño margarita, tamales and tostadas and everything was delicious. We met the owner and her daughter, both very kind and hospitable. They shared how all the recipes were from her family in Mexico and you could tell everything was authentic. Tortillas made fresh and by hand and seasonings were outstanding. We would 100% come back next time we are in the area and highly recommend it!

Haggard, tired, beaten, and demoralized by the wicked ways of this world — I found myself walking into this fine establishment. As I sank into the soft, warm, booth I’m greeted by an equally soft and warm “hola amigo, ¿Cómo Está?”. I sheepishly reply “Bien, ¿y tú?” — You see as an obviously white man from North Carolina, hablo mal el español! But then walked in an older couple, who were sat directly behind me. They were greeted warmly in Spanish, and replied with much more boldness, and mastery of the language, than myself, “Bien, ¿y tú?”. But like myself they were white people from out of the state. And so I sat, and had a wonderful plate of tamales, and drank a marvelously cold and tall beer. And did my best to recall all of my high school Spanish classes, while I listened to the waitress and the patrons in the booth speak, for over an hour, in perfectly fluent Spanish.

And I sat there.

And I thought about my neighbors, and the patron’s neighbors, and the waitress’s neighbors. None of us are neighbors, by traditional definition, except we all find ourselves within ear shot. We’ve all crossed City, County, State, and National borders to all end up together, in this restaurant, at this time.

It was soft, and warm
It felt like good people
It tasted like good food
And I left, satisfied.

And before I left, I found out that the waitress is the owner. So go eat at Los Poteillos Mexican Restaurant in Lafayette, Indiana,

And leave a little less weary than when you arrived.
With love!

I made the stop into Los Portrillos on a whim. Wanted to have som quacamole and chips. The service was very friendly. Nice place. From the outside you wouldn't imagine it to be as well decorated as it is. The owners did a nice job on decoration. I ordered the chips and quac. The server told me they dontwo different styles so we chose the smooth quack with pico in it. We were also brought out some hot chili as well. I even tried the sangria marg. Unfortunately they are still awaiting their year anniversary to have actual spirits but the agave based Marg was pretty good. I was told about fresh hand made tortillas that are available to order with your meal too. Seems like this family is trying to establish their name. I can say the kitchen looked absolutely spotless from where I could see. It's always nice when hoods and backsplashes are free of filth and gunk. Overall I will be back to try this place out. Carnitas and homemade tortillas will be the next visit

The owner is extremely unprofessional. She lacks customer service skills. I ordered the spinach dip. I specifically asked for less salt. I called asked to speak to the manager. She began aggressively saying call Door Dash. I said my order isn’t wrong. Someone heavily salted the dip. Then she hung up in my face. So I head back to the restaurant. I walk in and ask for the manager. She begin yelling I’m the manager. I said we were just on the phone. Then you abruptly hung up on me. She walks over into my personal space. I could smell a stinch of liquor on her breath. I took a couple steps back. Then she begins to talk with her hands and pointing her finger in my face. I said I’m here to return my order. She said I’m not refunding you call Door Dash. She didn’t care to hear a customer concern about there order.

I had the burritos Roqueta. The pork was tender and so flavorful. It is rare to find such quality.
