Walked in and the whole restaurant smelled like chlorine. Got to the table and was given gross tomato water and chips. Burrito came out and was half full and mostly peppers and onions that were very undercooked and when I finally got to the chicken it tasted rotten. I immediately sent it back and was lucky to have not gotten food poisoning

Scotsman who stays in town a few times a year who is a recent regular to this restaurant. Food is incredible and very filling at a respectable price, they have a solid choice of beers and cocktails to accompany perfectly with their superb meals. Staff are always extra helpful and service has always been quick in my experience. Cannot wait to visit again.

Pepe’s Hater

Let me start off by saying, the only reason I ended up at this restaurant was from pure curiosity. After trekking through a corn maze I was left with a choice between $10 off at Pepe’s or a free appetizer at Texas Roadhouse. Trying to weigh both options I did some research to find that Pepe’s had less than stellar reviews, but I needed to form my own opinion. My partner and I arrived at Pepe’s and requested a table. After a 5 minute wait the hostess took us to a booth. Seeing that the table was still dirty and littered with crumbs and cups the hostess proceeded to grab a equally as dirty damp towel from a random busser and halfway wiped the table down before reassuring us that the table had “just been cleaned off.” Eventually we were brought out chips and water, or what they consider to be salsa. We put in our orders which consisted of a large queso, chicken fajitas, a combination platter, and a side order of fries just for the heck of it. Our food came out and I was presented with a “warmer” which was a wobbly metal stand with a flame that my fajitas sat atop of. Whoever came up with the idea needs fired. Safe to say I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and not in a good way. I was stuck between trying to balance my plate that was 5 inches off the table and trying not to burn the entire building down by accident. I counted maybe 6 pieces of chicken in my fajitas that was accompanied by an assortment of hamburger toppings, since their cheese of choice was shredded cheddar cheese. My partner barely ate any of his before offering me his plate. What he had was no better than a microwaved meal you’d find at Walmart. The flavor was non existent and the presentation was sad. 15 minutes into our meal a party that had been seated next to us stood up and left before even getting a chance to put in a drink order due to lack of service. The highlight of our meal was the french fries, which were actually pretty good. I’d like to say that’s a compliment buts it not due to the fact that we were dining at whats supposed to be a “Mexican” establishment. Save your money and go elsewhere. $45 for probably one of the worst excuses for Mexican cuisine. Support local restaurants. Glad we came so we know not to go back. Waitress was nice. That’s about it.

The steak was grey, seemed like it was really old and the food tasted so bland. Don't waste your money here

This used to be one of my absolute favorite places to eat. Due to funds and life situation, I hadn't been able to come here in about 2 years so I was very excited to have a dinner date here tonight, and it was quite the disappointment for a $60 dinner.
They were absolutely not busy, with no one in front of us, but there was no hostess around when we arrived and we had to wait several minutes for someone to wander up to seat. My bf ordered a coke & it was almost entirely carbonation (was a pale beige color in the straw) so we asked that it be changed over, thinking the syrup must be run out. The waitress was very understanding and took it back, but the next coke she brought was exactly the same, so he asked for mellow yellow instead... it was the same, almost entirely carbonation &color in the straw was almost clear. We decided they must have their syrups turned down way too low and just accepted it at that point and he drank my lemonade. When the food came, I was so embarrassed for having recommended the fajitas, because they used to come on a skillet above an open flame and they were extremely flavorful, BUT we both got fajitas, & I discovered they are not only no longer served in the skillet above a flame, but they are now bland and tasteless. Not only that but my corn tortillas smelled like chemicals, and were weirdly stretchy and playdough-ish and gross.
We both immediately agreed we do not want to come back, and I apologized profusely to my bf for requesting thay we have dinner there.
At least the salsa is still the same and that is the ONLY redeeming quality. I'm so sad that one of my favorite restaurants, which I had so looked forward to splurging on tonight, is now ruined.

The past few times we have gone here to eat the wait to be seated has been extremely long and the restaurant has only had 2 or 3 tables per side. Meanwhile the servers were going to a back booth to eat, drink, and play on their phones clearly visible.

I wish I could be writing a good review about this restaurant, and their food, but unfortunately, that’s not the case— considering my group and I left before we could even get our drink orders taken. We were sat at our table, and promptly brought chips and salsa, and then continued to wait for upwards of 35-40 minutes for anybody to come take our drink order. Nobody came. The host that sat us said that our server, Cassie, would be with us shortly. I have no idea who Cassie is, since we didn’t get to meet her. Along with us, the family sitting at the table directly behind us were receiving the same service as we were. Same situation for the big family that had just received their food as we were getting sat. We watched the mom of the family go and refill her own drink. This is the first time I’ve ever left a restaurant before even getting our drinks. It’s a shame, because everything on the menu sounded fantastic. I hope this place can do better in the future for others, but I will not be back to find out.

The food was alright and came out quick, but the salsa was so watered down, it was practically just the juice. The host was on some phone call when we walked in. very unprofessional ,and sat us at a dirty sticky table so was gross. Our server was great though very nice.

watered down salsa, great fajitas but generally just average in everything and with lots of competition for mexican food this one just wont hit the mark unless you are ok with the american versions then it is a solid choice.
