Ordered egg drop soup, Beijing noodles, and braised beef noodles. Portions were huge and the food was DELICIOUS! Best Chinese food I have had in the Lafayette area!

Pricey place. Ordered dumplings, beef noodles, boiled style beef, and a plate of vegetables for two people. The total price was about 50, not including additional fee adding another 15 to the bill. Service was not great, the waiter/waitress never showed up unless ordering food and serving food. This definitely does not earn the additional charge. What’s ever funnier, the waiter said that this is already cheaper than going to a steakhouse.

We strongly recommend Sichuan house not only because of its delicious food, but also its incredible service. Our waitress Anna was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable, if you have no idea which dishes to choose, don’t worry, there’s always assistance available…if you order something to carry out , the package are always well packed , moreover the food portion is generous.

The mandatory 18% tip, despite receiving only basic service, is an issue for me. I believe in tipping fairly—you should tip based on the level of service you receive. If the service is excellent, I’m happy to tip over 20%, and I do that regularly when treated well. For basic service, I feel 10%-15% is more appropriate. For the 18% I was required to tip, the service included: taking my order, bringing a glass of water, and serving the food. There was no follow-up, and the attitude felt cold and very distanced. I'm not saying I need to be treated like I’m special—far from it. But it was noticeable that the owner was much much warmer, more engaged, showing big smiles, and even playful with non-Mandarin speakers, which didn’t sit well with me.
