While the breakfast food is fantastic, beware of tip scam at Sunrise Diner.
My bill was $14.99 and when I approached the cash register to pay, the waitress told me that the credit card machine was “like an ATM” and she would have to round up my check to $15.02 and did I just want to go ahead and round up to $20 and she would bring me the change.
A bit confused, I said sure and sat down to finish my coffee while she made change.
She walked past my table holding a $5 bill up and said “is this the tip?” I told her I need to calculate the tip.
After calculating, I realized that she was trying to get a 33% tip out of me!
Look, I am good tipper. 20% rule just about always..but, 33% for eggs, bacon, and coffee?!?
So just be aware because as I was leaving I overheard her telling the next table the same line about “this machine is like an ATM and I have to round up”
It’s not likely that I will return having felt this is a dishonest attempt at over tipping.
Shame because the biscuits are pretty great.

Everything was great but the place needs roof leak repairs and the decor with the same articles needs rearrangement to eliminate over stuffing

Always love the everyone is like family vibe. I've ALWAYS BEEN TREATED GREAT and my dad had been bringing me here to eat a great meal and just enjoy our time together somewhere where no one ever bothered you or made you feel so unwelcome. I love this this

Coming here was a family tradition of at least 4 generations. The last time we visited, the food was mediocre and definitely over priced. We have visited other local restaurants of this same quality and the price is much cheaper. My son ordered a "full order" of bacon (4 pieces), which was over $5.
As a kid, I thought of the decor as interesting. As an adult, it is congested and overwhelming and extremely dated. I love history, dont get me wrong but, it could definitely be done more tastefully.
If you do go, make sure to use cash. Using a debit card, the waitress explained to me she had to round my total to either $35 or $38 (my choice) on top of the $1.75 atm fee even though I was not using an actual ATM. The mandatory rounding up was the tip for the waitress. I am a very generous tipper but the method of "automatically" choosing for me is rude. Running my own business credit/debit card fees incurred are part of doing business and typically included calculted in with CODB. Adding them on is just tacky. The waitress was friendly enough.

Parking: Relatively easy on a weekday.

I would love to give this place a higher rating but it was just not good. To start off with the booths were quit rough fixed up with duck tape. Personally to reupholsters a both isn't hard if you do it yourself. Second there prices are far to high. I could go to competing restaurants like the sparrow or even red seven and pay just as much. I paid 20 bucks I did tip decently but I normally do. I only got a simple BLT fries and beans. The beans looked quite questionable and tasted just as questionable. I did not finish them. The BLT was like one made at home but tasted worse. The only good thing I had were the fries and my drink. The Restaurant did have a certain charm to it and nostalgia and history but unless it is a museum I don't normally go to a restaurant for these reasons. There means to pay were out dated too. While most restaurants use tap to pay or at least have a regular credit card reader this establishment did not. Instead they had some how rigged an ATM system to there POS machine. Because of this they charged in 20 dollar increments and gave you the change back from the POS machine. I have never seen anything like that but that's an inefficient out of date way to conduct sales. I suspect since their customer base is older and normally caries enough cash, they don't see the need to invest in a more updated system. Also, I love that this place was family run and the original owner was still cooking. I just wish the food and over all ambiance was better.

Ya Sabes

4/20/24- Sunrise is on the corner and you will find plenty of parking in the surrounding area. It's by the Farmer's Market area. (I'm new to town.)

Make sure you have cash, but if you don't they have an ATM available. I did not know we needed cash but my wife was ready.

Before you walk in there's a sign to be nice because they are short staffed. If you can't be nice or you're in a hurry don't go. No need to be in a rush because it's peaceful and they do their best to help customers.

The staff is great. They clean as soon as they can and the food is made to order. It's all fresh.

We missed the early bird special they offer from 6am to 9am. The prices are reasonable. You won't be upset if you order off the regular menu.

Rhea was on duty. She is business and firm so don't go in and get your feelings hurt if she's all business.

We placed our order. It took a few minutes to get cooked but it's all fresh and hot. The pancakes are very filling and I'm a big man. The eggs were scrambled to order. My wife got a French toast and eggs with hash browns. Pictures posted.

A couple of college girls came in and were told to use cash and the ATM was available. Sadly the girls went in shock and left. I figure they are not used to carrying cash or know how to use the ATM ? the way they acted.

As for us, we enjoyed the meal. The service and the experience of eating at a small diner and local business. If you get a chance give them a try.

If you remember Alice, Mel and Flo you're going to be fine ?

You won't be disappointed!

Parking: It was Saturday and parking was never an issue. You'll be fine during the week as spots open up easy.
