Feliz was very nice and offered suggestions. We tried the hot brown trio and the grilled chicken trio. That is half order with two sides. We tried cheesy garlic bread, potato soup, potato salad. Each plate came with a bag of potato chips and a pickle. Everything was delicious. Potato soup the best ever made with red potatoes. Sweet tea very sweet and delicious. Will definitely come back when in town. Next off to visit some antique stores

First timer here. My brother and I ate there. The little blonde waitress was amazingly sweet. We got our order taken and received our food rather quickly. It was a wonderful atmosphere. We had a great visit. Would highly recommend!!! Will visit again.

Visiting Madison for the weekend with my wife, we ducked into the Downtowner Diner to escape the brisk 19° winter weather and warm up with a quick meal. What we found was anything but “just quick.” The potato soup was pure comfort in a bowl, and the Italian sandwich? Absolutely worth the hype—messy in the best way and packed with flavor. One bite in and it was crystal clear why this place has such a loyal following. If you’re visiting Madison, Indiana, do yourself a favor and put the Downtowner Diner on your must-eat list. Cold weather optional, great food guaranteed. 🍲🥪

First visit. We came for a late lunch. The menu is overwhelming with all of the choices. Our meals were wonderful! The portions are large the prices are fair. The quality makes it awesome. Can't wait to come back. The cookies are great too.

Love the food and knowing how busy it is the owners surely can afford a new paper towel dispenser that actually works. It’s ridiculous because one can probably be purchased and installed for around $100-$150.

I have been coming here since I was a kid and let me just be the first to say, I cannot get enough! The service is always amazing and the food is just mouth watering!
If you are going to make a trip to Madison, Indiana then this HAS to be on the food tour! I don't know that I have ever had a bad item from the Downtowner. But know if you do go you HAVE to get 1 or 3 of the cookies. they are huge but worth it!

Family of 4 (2 and 4 year old) ordered two Downtowner trios. Excellent options, delicious items! Sandwiches were great, sides were great, my husband rVer about their loaded potato soup, pasta salad were great, cheesy bread was ok, tasted better with the marinara sauce they provided. Got a sandwich, soup, cheesy bread, bag of chips and pickle for $10. Very, very reasonable! Cookies ($3) were gigantic and delicious! Bag of chips is next to it to show size. Staff were kind and accommodating. Self seating, they had tables and booths and tables outside. Handicap and stroller accessible. Really loved this place!
