After waiting for an hour and a half for my food at Miller's Tavern in North Vernon I went to Shipleys and had my food in just over 15 minutes and the wait staff kept my drink full.

It seems if your a local it is a great place but if you not there is big attitude when our food was brought to us it was just thrown onto the table. People told us this was the place to come and we must try the hamburger. Disappointing! Never was asked how we wanted the burger cooked. Over cooked Burt on the bottom fries were bland. I’ve had better from the gas station. Atmosphere was buzzing with conversations and laughter from everyone. That was nice and the food and staff was very poor. Hope they do better.

This a triple D minus Guy and that's a good thing. Just a damn tasty burger with a small town feel (make sure you ask for Shipley sauce). Holly is an absolute trooper killing it on the grill, fryer and the bar - real triple threat.
Not fancy, just a great local joint for beer and burgers.

Awesome place to dine. We came to Madison for the day and ate lunch here. Fantastic customer service and food. I ordered their breaded fish sandwich. Absolutely delicious. Their onion rings were crispy and not greasy. We are definitely returning the next time we are in town.

Any time I come into town for work, all my dinners are at Shipleys. Good food cooked right in front of you. The best bartenders. Last year I came in before chili season, and only found out that it wasn't sold all year. The next night one of the ladies tending bar brought home made chili for me. That was way over and beyond!
