Wineries in Madison

“We took an impromptu trip to Madison, IN and stayed at the Clifty Falls State Park. This winery isn’t far and is close to the Ohio River front.

We stopped in and had a tasting with Dennis. We sampled sweets, drys and their WineShine! Dennis was friendly and offered up chilled pours like a boss! Didn’t care for the Jalapeño Wine Shine, but loved the dry Chambourcin. My wife enjoyed the sweet reds and we left with 2 bottles. My son enjoyed the lemon liqueur and bought a bottle.

Honestly we would have bought more, but at more than $22/bottle of wine and slushie drinks at $15/cup when we can get comparable for $10 or under at home (St. Julian) we had a difficult time grabbing more.

The atmosphere was nice and Dennis was friendly. The resident mouser cat let us have a pet. We would return for that alone! :-)

The atmosphere is cozy and rustic, and it feels like you’re hanging out with friends even if it’s your first time there. Everyone I met was super friendly and down-to-earth, which made the whole visit feel special. If you’re new to wine like me, this is definitely the kind of place that makes you want to keep learning.“
