Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Love this Cracker Barrel! The food was delicious and the prices are great. Also, such a cute little gift shop! Our waitress Rita was awesome and super sweet—she made the whole visit even better. Just a great restaurant all around!

It was nice to see that they brought the games back (yes, it's been awhile since I've been here) but our food was NOT what we ordered. Everything- over salted, chicken and noodle soup- green? Corn bread and no biscuits- all biscuits. Waitress tried to make it right but I don't think we'll be back in awhile.

Very very disappointed I had to wait 30 minutes longer than the time said for pickup called them four times and they kept saying we'll be right there and the 4th and final time they said are you sure you're at the right Cracker Barrel oh come on people there's only one in Merrillville then they brought the food out it was cold and very salty tasting I am not impressed at all and I should have never left a tip but when you're signing up for the order you have to put a tip or not and I did hoping for good service and good food very disappointed

Only pleasant thing was my waitress Sarah!
Food was minimal warm, not hot! No welcoming hosts! Jus standing up front eating chips. Also lady I asked for price check had attitude and gave me multiple dirty looks….. very much older woman wit short white hair maybe late 80s! SMH definitely not returning!

Not bad. But I ordered biscuits and gravy & I never saw any B&G like that before. When they came to our table I just kinda sat & stared at them for a few seconds. And my colleagues stared at them too. They were like ... what's that? I said, biscuits & gravy I guess🤷‍♂️ They had put three biscuits in a basket along with a small bowl of gravy. So I ended up taking the biscuits out of the basket, put them on my plate & then poured the small bowl of gravy on top. It was just weird. They weren't too bad but there ended up not being enough gravy. Otherwise not a bad visit. The waitress was running around like crazy. It was a Saturday morning so it was very busy. Tables & booths filled. I felt a little sorry for her because she really couldn't give her customers the attention she maybe should have. I still tipped her good. She had her hands full.

Very disappointing experience. We were seated and then completely ignored for over 30 minutes. No one came to take our order, bring drinks, or even check on us. The only explanation we were given was that they were “short staffed,” yet there were at least three employees walking around doing nothing while multiple tables, including ours, weren’t being served at all.

I understand being busy or understaffed happens, but communication and basic service still matter. If you can’t serve guests in a reasonable amount of time, you shouldn’t be seating them. We eventually left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. Definitely not the level of service I expect from Cracker Barrel.
