The food was ok. The Mac and cheese was mushy and the cornbread was hard as a brick. When I called to let them know about the cornbread they told me that it was free and there was nothing they could do about it, but would give me one next time I came back. I didn’t want a refund but I just wanted something fresh which the cornbread clearly wasn’t so no I don’t want another one lol try baking them fresh !

I gave this place one star even though I’ve never tried the food. Business owners need to understand that the people who they employ are representing their business to the customer base. As a food delivery driver I’ve been here a total of 4 times and each time I’ve been there, the woman behind the counter is nasty for absolutely no reason at all. She has a scowl on her face when I tell her why I’m there as if I’m some sort of a burden to her. She never greets me, just stands there waiting for me to tell her why I’m there. I give her the name on the order, then she hands it to me. I’m verifying the order on the app once I see that it’s ready to go. After she gives me the order she tells me to let her see me verify it. It’s already verified, there is no way for me to complete that process for you again, the app is now on the customer delivery page. Every single time I’ve been in this place she does the same thing! Her attitude is so bad that I said that I would never buy anything that she prepared! She’s basically accusing me of coming there to steal the food. She’s horrible for your business, and usually when employees are allowed to behave this way in a business, they’re related to the owner. That’s why it’s always been said, never hire your family members! I no longer accept deliveries from this place.

I ordered the Chicken wings and tip combo with pinto beans, collard greens, and black eyed peas. It was all delicious 5☆s on everything but the chicken. The chicken gets 10☆s! It was the best fried chicken I have had outside of my own kitchen! Thank you for the delicious lunch!

This was my first time and the food was delicious and plentiful.

I eat here weekly I have serious health issues and I can actually eat here and its amazing

Food was delicious took awhile for the food to get prepared but like they say it not a fast food restaurant I will return

I went to pickup order for my 98 year old grandma and she enjoyed it they didn't have the black eye peas I wanted

First time trying and they just gained a long time customer! Took a bite of everything just to try and it had me doing the happy dance instantly! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I had the fried chicken, Mac n cheese, greens, and sweet potatoes and it all was FIRE!!! Seasoned to perfection!! I live in Illinois and work in Indiana! Mississippi Boy is my new lunch spot when I want REAL FOOD!!! Not to mention I got hefty portions for about $22! You can't beat it! 10/10 Would Def Recommend and I WILL BE BACK!!

I have to start by saying I was able to find this gem on tik tok. I was a tad bit nervous about it just because there isn’t a lot of restaurants in Merrillville. This made me change my mind. Great tasty food. There wasn’t any bad things to say about it. We had smothered and Cajun turkey wings, smothered potatoes, greens, dressing, mac and cheese and peach cobbler. Followed by a Pepsi, I’d give the review a 10 1/2!!!!
