I randomly chose this restaurant as a meet up spot for friends who enjoy Thai food. Found just a spot off of Route 30 in Merrillville, I was so happy with the experience.
Outside it looks like it was once a different restaurant but inside transports you into an absolutely lovely dining room.
I had my go to Tofu pad Thai. I had been warned that their spice level may be higher than the average American version of Thai. No problem for me. It was delicious. Too many places make this dish overly sweet and this had that great balance of sweet, salty and sour. Our table also enjoyed various fried rice dishes, potstickers and a panang curry. Everyone enjoyed their food.
Service was excellent. Our waiter did a great job making sure wedding had time to order. It is a small restaurant with a small staff but our food timing and service were spot on.
I definitely would go back and I found a new “happy place.”

I have been looking for a good Thai restaurant since i moved to Indiana and SPICE THAI is my new favorite place.. food was so amazing and Service was great . The Owner is super nice.

The restaurant is run by 2 people doing everything, and there are very limited tables so they are often full and the food takes long, I would recommend calling ahead and confirming they are not full and are open, as the hours are quite erratic. The food is worth all the hassle, the garlic chicken wings are SO GOOD they were so good I forgot to take a picture. The drunken noodles were good as well as the pad see-u. I liked how they tore up a fried egg and put them in for an eggy flavor. They incorporated the veggies so well that even my 11 year old who will not eat any veggies gobbled up all of them. They incorporated the atmosphere was nice and relaxing and with a lot of warm homey touches.

Come visit Spice it was amazingly good, it was our first time there and I ate everything on my plate I didn’t want to share lol 😂 Great service very friendly. Family owned. Also the owner is a brother in Christ so come and try it out you won’t be disappointed.
It's a nice and cozy family business with decent food, clean and pleasing atmosphere, and excellent service! Service was definitely the highlight of my visit. It is a great change from all the chain restaurants around this area.

Wheelchair accessibility: It's possible to enter it with someone helping with the doors. The entrance would be tight for someone in a wheelchair.

The food was actually pretty good just needed peanuts and lime (vegetable pad thai). However, I was offended by the racist comment the worker made when I asked for chopsticks. It ruined my appetite and I almost asked for a refund. Maybe you should think before you make a strange face and ask a black customer if they're sure they want chopsticks and can use them properly because you don't want them to come back saying they couldn't eat 😒. This was so rude and stereotypical whether he called himself being funny or not. I won't be returning!

The food is at its worst. We ordered thai fried rice and the rice is not steamed properly. When asked, the staff was reluctant to eben listen to us and said its steamed and thats how they serve it ! I have had thai regularly at various place and its our fav cuisine but never had such experience. Also , the female staff, in specific, was very unwelcoming and responding with attitude !
