It was no waiting upon arrival at the Merrillville location. Haven't been here in years, that you place your own order and seat yourself now. The restaurant is clean and organized. The music plays at a good volume where you can still have a conversation at the table. It was wonderful to be greeted by Tiffany and her son with smiles. To the young lady who frowns bringing the orders, hope she can find a smile. Our food was fresh and hot. The bathroom was smelly upon using to wash my hands before eating. Their was hair on the floor in the first stall. To the guy who sweeps the floor as soon as the customers are done, good job and keep it up. I didn't catch his name. Thank you to the entire team telling us to have a good night as the family left the restaurant.

I was told I was not allowed to order through a person though I am physically challenged. This is very disrespectful and should be addressed immediately. I was told I would have to go through drive-thru to order my food and then come in the restaurant to eat it.

Make sure you check your food at the merrilville in location found a large hair in the middle of my burger, and the worker wasnt very pleasant when I based my concern!

Every time I go through the drive thru and hear Tiffany’s voice, I know all my food will be correct and fresh. She has taken care of us for a while now. She makes sure everyone is squared away whether it’s with her peers or her customers. All I have to say is this woman better get a big raise or a bonus. She has the best attitude I’ve ever seen at a fast food place. We need more Tiffany’s in the world. She is the reason why we come . She takes care of her customers. She has the sweetest soul, take care of this hardworking woman!!!

This used to be a great place to stop, sit down, and enjoy a meal. Now . . . it's cold, impersonal, and service is from a screen. Half the experience of dining out is the interaction with the staff. Not at Steak n Shake any longer. Just like other impersonal restaurants where YOU order at a screen, YOU pick up your food, and YOU clear your own table. I might as well save money and eat at home if I'm doing all but cooking. I go out to be served, not to wait on myself. I won't be stopping at Steak n Shake any longer. I thought there would be some stayed that did not have screens, but not so far. I just don't see the need to look at any more just to be disappointed and serving myself.

There were 2 other couples eating I would make the 3rd. Place order three meals and two shakes and one drink. Went to counter to get shakes one at a time. Food arrived I went to get my pop from machine. Lady came from around the counter asking can I see your receipt. Like I'm trying to steal a small pop from them. I said Ms I just brought all that food over there. Yes I know folks steal pop but you don't approach people that way. The proper thing to do is simply check what I just ordered don't accuse me of trying to beat you out of a small pop . I know you didn't ask the other gentleman for his receipt when he got his pop. So I dropped the cup in the garbage and sat down and asked who I was with go show her our receipt she did then she said it was ok to get it said no thank refund me my money for the pop. Then the manager comes out trying apologize for this lady being so disrespectful and wrong for what she did. If I wasn't with a little one enjoying himself being out . I would have gotten a full refund and walked out. I never raised my voice or said unpleasant words. She knew that was terrible what was done to me. And she knew what it look like looking around the dining room.
I told my family and friends I will never ever eat there again and never bring anything from there again for me I will throw it away and you will be wasting your money. I did nothing to deserve that!
