We are out of towners and came here as it was highly recommended by some folks we met at the casino down the street. This food did not disappoint it was so fresh, we had the shrimp yakitori which absolutely blew us away, the chicken teriyaki was beyond amazing, the spicy tuna roll and dragon roll were fantastic as well, can’t forget about the miso soup which was perfect! The main point is everything came out FRESH and delicious! Highly recommend!!!

I've never seen yakisoba look like this.
Noodles over cooked to the point of disintegration.
Paid 40 dollars for this order.

Asian lady server had bad energy attitude. Food was ok but she added a 20% service charge to our bill. This was not mentioned at all while ordering. All she did was took our order and never came back towards the end to give us our receipt. There is a separate server that brings you your food.
Would not reccomend coming here.

Welcomed at the door and sat down within 5 minutes. We had crab Rangoon’s and I highly recommend these as an appetizer. We got the Godzilla which was my favorite roll. We also got cucumber roll, Philly roll, vegetable roll and avocado roll which was good as well.

The hostess/receptionist was completely rude. I called in because she put an eel roll (that my coworker ordered) in with my sweet potato roll. I told her I had an allergy and she said it was a me problem and that they always combine the rolls together when ordered. She was extremely rude. I am allergic to fish, shell fish and contrast. Most places cook their fish separately so that there isn't cross contamination. She separated them but I do not think they were remade. I itched throughout the rest of the day. I had to take benadryl to calm the reaction down. Very poor service and not understanding of the severe situation. They never asked if it was ok for them to be packaged together, never had anything written indicating that, and it made no sense in any case because one roll was served hot and one was served cold, so we pretty safely assumed they would be separated.

The woman that works there shows attitudes. And she included a gratuity on our check, but not others.

The food is okay had no complaints.
The gentleman that served was great. I think the fault lies with the woman at the counter that printed out our check.
The reason I give a one star is because they included a gratuity on our check automatically (we were a table of 2). I checked another customers check as i was leaving and their check was not the same as mine. I would have happily tipped them. As an Asian business owner they should not be profiling other asians. This is a disgraceful...

While the service was great and the atmosphere was casual but well themed? (The operators of the establishment are not Japanese American - but certainly made great choices in wall art.)
I stopped in for lunch and ordered only for myself.
As an appetizer I had the Shrimp Tempura. Which while decently priced, definitely had some less than ideal characteristics. The vegetables seemed to be panko breaded, but the shrimp pieces were breaded with much finer almost US-style breading - almost like they were pre-made/manufactured shrimp tempura pieces. The tempura sauce itself was a bit saltier than I prefer, but definitely passable.
Now, the most important part of my review - for a Sushi and Sashimi restaurant - the fish? The fish presented on their Sashimi platter was lacking in proper serving size for the price charged.
$28.95 for the Sashimi platter is over priced for the really thinly sliced pieces of fish.
Many of the pieces were wedge shaped with the thickest part of the fish being 2/8" thick going down to 1/8" (some pieces were even thinner at their thinnest parts because they were wedge cuts not slabs).
Now in their defense, I'd rate the fish quality a solid 7/10 compared to other inland US Sushi restaurants and a 6/10 compared to Sushi in California (SF, LA, SD) or New York city. For longtime US sushi fans, the fish quality is certainly comparable to the Sushi and Sashimi that you would find (on a good day) at (the now defunct) Todai buffets like the ones in California, Las Vegas, and even in Chicago (Schaumburg).
The kicker was the automatic/mandatory 18% "gratuity" added onto the bill. This was not made known to me on the menu nor on any noticeable signage anywhere in the restaurant.
If they made their Sashimi cuts well just MORE in terms of volume/amount per slice? Then the price would be more fair.
But to have these really thin slices at that price, oddly breaded Tempura, and then make gratuity mandatory?
That garners a 2 star rating and makes you wonder what else are they are (literally) cutting corners on?
If you want a referenceable Sushi restaurant for comparison in NWI? I'd recommend Kitaro in Munster, IN - but expect to pay $15 more for a comparable Sashimi platter. They have excellent fish quality and make their slices of Sashimi more reasonably sized for American diners.

Happiness is here. Always fresh! We had the dumplings for an appetizer. They have quite an extensive list of rolls and food to order! I'm trying to remember the names of the rolls we got, but they were both delicious! I know I added extra crunch topping on them. I love the added crunch! We enjoyed hot sake and it was delicious. Service was great, the man came out and helped serve and pick up plates with a smile. That was refreshing too see! If you want fresh and delicious, stop here!!
