I think this place has seen better days. It could use some paint and a deep cleaning.
Our server on the second deck was pretty good. She was carrying most of the load, while the staff on the ground floor had nothing to do.
The food was over priced.

The highlight was the glazed pineapple appetizer. It’s a truly great dish, but the menu says it is served on microgreens. It was served on lettuce and baby spinach, not microgreens.
Moving onto entrees, the nuclear chicken sandwich is great. The fish tacos were disappointing, and the shrimp was fine at best. The loaded nachos once again had a—deceptive—description. “Queso” seemed to in fact be bagged cheddar cheese that wasn’t even melted.
Service was fine, and atmosphere was your typical campy beach town seafood restaurant.

Awesome place that looks like a fishingboat. The food was good and plenty. They are also playing cool music and you can see the lighthouse and the drawbridge from the " deck " . Highly recommend it if you are looking for a unique experience in Michigan City.

Excellent experience. My father picked this based on a recommendation, good ol fashion word of mouth. Great accommodation to his motorcycle, there were many bike patrons. The food was delicious, football on the TV, & beautiful outdoor areas.

We had our class reunion here and they could not have been accommodating to our group of about 100! They were so easy to work with and provided great service. It was a great event in part to the staff and managers at Mateys.

Not disabled friendly. Had I know that before going we wouldn't have gone. Sat on 3rd story in open air. Wobbly aluminum high sitting chairs. Lot of stairs.Small menu. Food was ok. Staff however were very friendly and welcoming.

Waiter dude walked up to our table and started rattling off about what they’re out of-walked away, omg tool that didn’t want us to order food-apparently had to walk down stairs. The blessing was that we really appreciated the children and b-day parties for the kiddos. Minus grumpy it’s the premier spot for family gatherings, kiddos party’s and good food!

The Atmosphere is great! You can see Lake Michigan from the outdoor seating. The food was good, not great! I was disappointed with the service. The top of my sandwich bun was dropped on the ground (accidentally) by the server. They never brought the top of the bun until I ran around asking several employees for the top of the bun.
