Old fries and bad burgers. They did have Pacifico on tap. Would never go back.

Owner boy - address the problem before accusing customers of lying. I was there on Nov 28th for the Bears game before our Blue Chip stay. My total was $80.48 paid by amex about 3:32PM. Look it up. Sorry it took me a few weeks to tell the world how bad the food sucked here. We couldn't finish it. The fries were like cardboard. But the Pacfico was tuned right. Your greasy cook was outside and at the bar too. Better keep that scary old man in the back. Try harder next time.

The food was super bland & soo greasy. It gave me a stomachache. The workers are nice. The atmosphere in the evening & night arent my go to. Too many fights and too much creeps there. A lot of problems and negativity. For lunch outdoor upstairs area isn't a bad atmosphere. But I just am not for this place. Not recommend

Was excited to try this place out as it looked interesting and well advertised. Seriously disappointed. Upon getting closer it needed repaired and painted. Food was expensive for what you got. $25 for 2 crab cakes the size of half dollars. Portions were extremely small for the price. Our waitress was really good. I feel for the staff there as they get a workout with all the stairs. All in all it wasn't worth the hype. Has potential but really not living up to it. Giving it a 2 because of the staff, otherwise it would have been a 1.

This experience felt like something out of a bad movie. We went for drinks at 10 pm to celebrate my daughter’s birthday- but ended up leaving because two people in our party were denied entry by an angry, aggressive security guy. A 54 year old was denied entry for not having their identification with them- uh, I’m pretty sure they looked over 21. Another was denied entry because of the TWO forms of ID that were required (Of which he lied and said was an Indiana law) the names in the ID Alexander and Alex didn’t match!? What?? After asking to speak to a manager, he again lied and said he was the manager. Clearly unwelcoming of tourists, they were not interested in our party of 10. They ruined what was supposed to be a fun night.

I think this place has seen better days. It could use some paint and a deep cleaning.
Our server on the second deck was pretty good. She was carrying most of the load, while the staff on the ground floor had nothing to do.
The food was over priced.

The highlight was the glazed pineapple appetizer. It’s a truly great dish, but the menu says it is served on microgreens. It was served on lettuce and baby spinach, not microgreens.

Moving onto entrees, the nuclear chicken sandwich is great. The fish tacos were disappointing, and the shrimp was fine at best. The loaded nachos once again had a—deceptive—description. “Queso” seemed to in fact be bagged cheddar cheese that wasn’t even melted.

Service was fine, and atmosphere was your typical campy beach town seafood restaurant.

Awesome place that looks like a fishingboat. The food was good and plenty. They are also playing cool music and you can see the lighthouse and the drawbridge from the " deck " . Highly recommend it if you are looking for a unique experience in Michigan City.

Excellent experience. My father picked this based on a recommendation, good ol fashion word of mouth. Great accommodation to his motorcycle, there were many bike patrons. The food was delicious, football on the TV, & beautiful outdoor areas.

We had our class reunion here and they could not have been accommodating to our group of about 100! They were so easy to work with and provided great service. It was a great event in part to the staff and managers at Mateys.
