Food and service here is always great. There is usually a line, but it moves quickly-it’s a big place. Whether you eat from the hot bar or order from the menu, you will not be disappointed. Don’t miss the bakery for some fantastic sweets!
Buffet was mediocre. Nothing special. Desserts were lacking! We were disappointed.
Not at all what I remember it being years ago!! The food was subpar, and the prices were ridiculous. Even our $11 year old was charged $19!!!
This is our family favorite 🤩

If you’re anywhere near Northern Indiana and don’t stop at Das Dutchman Essenhaus…are you even living?!!
We dove into the dinner buffet and let me tell you — it was a glorious, carb-loaded/protein adventure I will proudly never recover from. For just $19.99 per person, I ate like I was preparing to hibernate until next spring. Fried chicken? Perfectly crispy. Mashed potatoes? Creamy dream. Noodles? Sent from heaven. Desserts? Seconds, please. And yes, they have a full menu too — but when there’s an all-you-can-eat Amish buffet calling your name, you answer.
The atmosphere? Like stepping into a time machine where life slows down, stress disappears, and all that matters is whether you want chocolate cream or apple pie (spoiler: get both). It’s cozy, relaxing, and feels like visiting your grandma’s house — if your grandma had a staff of professional cooks and a gift shop the size of a small country.
Speaking of service — shoutout to Brynne for being the friendliest, most attentive server ever! She made us feel like regulars on our first visit.
And just when you think it can’t get better… you finish your meal and get to wander off into their bakery and gift shop, which is basically a magical maze of delicious pastries, home décor, and things you didn’t know you needed until you saw them (We may now own 3 new scented candles and hand soaps).
Bottom line: Das Dutchman Essenhaus is a must-visit gem. Come hungry, leave full and happy, and bring a little extra cash for that blueberry pie you’ll absolutely need to take home!
Ooohh the pie was to die for..
They have the best pie. The food is good.
Everything was fresh and good on the buffet. I expecially really liked there apple crisp
Everything is home made, fresh and delicious
Ordered off menu, Meatloaf and Potatoes. Food was excellent, service was good, attentive. Place has the country farm feel if that’s your style then this is the place for you. Would recommend if you are out this way.

Been coming here for years. We usually do family style dining, but tries the buffet this time. It was phenomenal. Das Dutchman Essenhaus never disappoints!
