This has been my favorite place to eat since I was a teen. It is pricey but worth every penny. Everything on the menu is excellent and the service is top notch. I highly recommend this place!!

Although I do love the food here, I just don't love the atmosphere, it's just old and outdated. It just didn't feel that clean. For as much as we spent here, next time for Hibachi I would just rather go to a place that feels new and fresh. On a positive note, our chef was great.

I've been all over America and have eaten at every Japanese steakhouse I can. Hard to believe that the best one is I. Mishawaka IN.

It’s my first time here and having food cooked in front of me and I LOVED it. We went for my friend’s birthday and we had, I believe his name was Dave. Let me tell you something, Dave is AMAZING. Dave is awesome, the coolest ever. He’s super funny and charismatic, really he made the whole night and the experience. His jokes and energy carried the whole night and it was just superb. The food on the other hand was amazing too, you MUST get the egg yolk on your food, it is SO good. The steaks melt into your mouth and everything was perfect. Definitely coming back.(Please adopt me Dave.)

One of the best restaurants in town! Awesome employees and chefs that cook in front of you. The food is delicious, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who has allergies. It definitely has healthy choices like salads and vegetables. If you have sensitive individuals or children who is scared of fire, just be warned. Overall, I will highly recommend it to almost everyone who is planning on dinner, reservations are required though. It can be pricey but it is worth it!

I wish they had more vegetarian options, but the chefs are amazing and delightful to watch and the food always tastes great.

The chef was amazing and very entertaining. The service was very slow and just a bit over priced. All in all, I would go back again.

Came here to celebrate my wife's 70th. birthday and it was super. The food was awesome and the chef very entertaining, service was also great. We were joined by four young people at our table who were very polite and had very good manners. To top it off one young couple about gave me a heart attack by picking up our bill. If they read this review we THANK YOU again.

SAVE YOUR MONEY! GOT SICK AFTERWARDS. Not having been there in a while, my recent visit to Hana Yori of Japan in Mishawaka left me underwhelmed and somewhat disappointed. The restaurant, once a favorite, now demands urgent refurbishment and enhanced cleaning efforts.Upon entry, a very noticeable, unpleasant odor was evident, and the lack of proper ventilation was immediately apparent. The dining area was uncomfortably smokey, leading to a distressing experience where a couple of us started coughing ( it was very was unavoidable at one point.)Our chef's performance was lackluster, lacking creativity and enthusiasm, which was particularly disheartening as we were celebrating my daughter's birthday. Despite occasional references to the occasion, his engagement was minimal, mostly mumbling and fixating oddly on topics like '5-hour energy drink.' Despite this, I generously tipped him for our party. The culinary mishaps continued with our orders, where one guest received less chicken than expected, and another was served chicken in addition to the requested filet mignon.Furthermore, the cooking pace was sluggish, resulting in a jarring mismatch where our rice and noodles turned cold by the time our meat was adequately cooked. An additional point of contention was the pricing policy on soft drinks - they were charged individually with no option for refills. In an era where most restaurants offer complimentary refills, this felt like a missed opportunity for added customer value. The total bill for four of us amounted to $150, with $40 allocated for tips ($20 to the waitstaff and $20 to the chef) on top of the $150.Reflecting on the overall experience and the cost, it did not equate to good value for money. Alternatives like Outback or Flat Top Grill would have likely offered a more satisfying dining experience at a comparable or lesser cost.In summary, my experience at Hana Yori of Japan was far from what I had hoped for. With a heavy heart, I rate it 1 out of 5 stars and suggest exploring other dining options in the area.
