Just like I remember on the Boardwalk. They are expensive for what you get. Really weird set up for ordering and picking up.

Best Tacos ever! Despite the fact that they are in downtown Monticello instead of Indiana Beach is different but still the best Tacos in the world! My only criticism is they can add more tables but other than that, they are excellent Tacos!

OMG! The only reason I loved going to Indiana Beach was for the amazing tacos! I was visiting a customer in Monticello looking for someplace for lunch. I got on Yelp of course! I saw The Taco Shoppe - one of the first review I read explained how the taco stand was no longer in Indiana Beach/ but had opened shop 1 mile from where I was! Trust me I knew this was the place for me!!! Anyone that has been to Indiana Beach must remember these delicious tacos! They are nothing fancy/ just ground beef lettuce snd cheese- with the AMAZING taco sauce! You order at a Windiw- pick up at the next- there are a few picnic tables. I noticed a steady stream of people walking up the steps to place orders! This is a must stop if you have fun memories of the tacos at Indiana Beach!

All these people crying about the shells not being crispy enpugh and no inside seating. This Taco stand use to be at the Indiana Beach Amusement park for over 40 years. It was never a restaurant and the Shells are suppose to be a little on the soft side with a little crunch. I grew up spending my allowance every summer on those tacos for over 40 yeaes..Still taste just a great. The price was always high cause it was an Amusement Park stand. So i do agree they could lower it just a little since its no longer at the Amusement Park. But Taco Bell can not beat these Tacos. Just wish they was open on sundays when we make the trip down there tomorrow.. We dont go to Indiana Beach anymore since the new owners ruined the place. the Taco Shoppe was the only thing made it worth going.

There's something to be said about knowing your strengths and understanding your clientele. If you've ever been to Indiana Beach on Lake Shafer, you've probably had tacos from the now closed Taco Shoppe. It was a staple for years at the amusement park, and gained such a following that when they closed a few years back, their regulars (myself included) were devastated. So much so that the owners decided to re-open the business about three miles away in downtown Monticello, IN. The recipe for their success is a simple one. Keep the menu simple. Find a niche product that differentiates your establishment from the dozens of other taco joints in the area and only open for a select amount of time so that you always leave them wanting more. The Taco Shoppe is a carry-out only and has no inside seating at all. In fact, there's no "inside" of the business. You order from one window and pick up your food from another. There's a handful of picnic tables in the lot next door, but that's it. So what's the secret??? Tough to describe. First of all, the soft shell corn tortillas are flash fried, maybe?!? Whatever they do to them, they are delicious. Their ground beef is also kind of a mystery. It's unlike any beef taco I've had before, and my fat ass has had PLENTY of tacos in my 52 years. They serve the tacos with red sauce (mild) and green sauce (hot). They are both amazing. Their red sauce is on the sweeter side, and I can't compare it to anything else really... Like everything else about this place, it's totally unique. The Taco Shoppe is one of those places that if you know about it.... you know. You get it.

The food is good but they could have put some meat in the nachos or put more cheese on the nachos...

Very good I just wish it was open all year round.

Omg! The most expensive taco n nacho cheese. The chips are stale! The mini tacos are over priced. The service is on the weird side. I wouldn't recommend anyone eat here! I'm taking my food back to the window so they can bask in their awful try at Mexican food! They don't even bother to give napkins or sauce. Don't put yourself through the awful food they make. I guess with the price of food going up they think the quality should go way down!

Good Tacos but no place to eat them other than outside in the heat. The Tacos get mushy if you don't eat them right away and so messy to eat in the car. It's only a pick up window. They need to open a regular Restaurant. Shells need to be crisper too for fried corn shells.

I will never miss getting tacos here when I'm visiting. I don't know what makes them so good? But yummmmm

It must have been about 1966. We'd go in our 2 cylinder catamaran every Saturday night to Indiana Beach for the trampoline, the rides, and tacos. We'd order maybe eighteen. With lemonade it'd cost maybe ten dollars. Seven years later, I was a chemistry major at IU. A Mexican girl invited me to Mexican Independence Day, A celebration with rooster fights and dancing horses. I had only one question: will they have tacos? Two years after, we got married and have been together ever since.

Had to try it for the experience. Bought 3 tacos. 1 with Xtra meat, one with Xtra cheese, And 1 regular taco. (gotta try a little variety) As well as a lemonade. They have a sign in the window stating since I was paying with a card I would be charged more due to card charges. That is a first. My total was $16 and change. This is absurd. I expected huge tacos but what i got was fancy taco bell supreme tacos minus the sour cream. Usually I'm happy to try something once but I really regret this particular experience.
