We ignored the prices and went a tad crazy, good news is the pies, the entree and sides and two pieces of pie were so delicious. Pies are amazing, got a strawberry pie and a rhubarb pie to go. We had the juicy inside with crispy outside chicken breast that was perfectly fried and the prime rib. It was a bit of a budget buster as our bill for two was 67.00 and you can eat for a lot less, but get pie and extra pie.... you will be glad you did. We enjoyed the cafeteria restaurant....please never go away. GREAT HOT EATS and Awesome Pie !!!!

This was our first time eating at Gray Brothers Cafeteria and we loved it. The food was a 10 out of 10. The place was very clean and I loved how the staff helped the older guest carry their trays. The only downfall was our bill was $67.00 which is more than we normally pay for lunch.

Haven't ate at Gray Brothers for a couple years. We use to go every Tuesday for salmon & scalloped potatoes. It took 3 tries to get me a good salmon patty. They were all soaked in grease. Tonight the salmon was GREAT, potatoes not so good. They were watery, not cheesy. I was charged 3.90 for a big tablespoon of watery potatoes. My husband got meatloaf, very dry & cold. Probably won't be back for another couple years. By the time you get sat down your foods cold & they're very expensive!!!

Been going to Gray's for about 50 years. Love the food and the atmosphere! I do have a complaint. For the past several years the food is very salty and the dressing has so much pepper I can't eat it. My mouth was on fire. I truly love it and I'm sad I will no longer be ordering some of my favorites! Gray Brothers could you please cut back on the salt and pepper? Long live customer!

I was so excited to eat here last Saturday. After moving to Texas seven years ago, I look forward to eating at Gray's when I'm in Indy for a visit. I had the fried chicken(white meat). It wasn't the big crispy, juice breast meat I remember. It was a tiny and dry. Seemed like it was a left over from the day before, left in the pan under the heat lamps. So disappointing. I took one bite(should have taken it back up for a replacement). Took the rest home to feed to the dogs. Thank goodness both cheesy potatoes and the butterscotch pie were on point. Fix the chicken situation...please.

There's everything you want here. The waiting in line actually adds to the charm. Staff is so helpful and courteous. We have been eating here when traveling to IN from the Cleveland, OH area to visit family for YEARS. Not only are the memories great- but the food and experience is too. I would have a picture of my plate but I always start eating too fast!

The old memories came flooding back from days of yesteryear, as a child, standing in the long lines anticipating the vast selection of delicious options. Just looking at the heaping mounds of chicken tenders and the huge Roast Beef waiting to be sliced and smelling the fresh Strawberry pie made my mouth water. As I passed by the windows, staring down my options of sides and flirting with splitting my entrees I decided to go with the HUGE butterfly fried Shrimp. A first for me and not the last. The Shrimp were not all breading and full of plump and tasty deliciousness. My old stand by from my child hood, Chicken and noodles, was missing but it's neighbor Beef and Noodles was there. I also opted for the Raisin pie to go. Great atmosphere, great food and always remember FREE PIE WEDNESDAY!

Great service with personal attention. Everyone was able to eat what they wanted with no waiting. From meat to dessert, food had good flavor. I would consider adding a dash of salt and pepper as dietary restrictions varied with customers. We were there with small kids so the no wait was fantastic

Walk in, grab a tray, get in line, pick what you want, pay, seat yourself, a waiter will check on you/fill drinks, etc, eat, enjoy, tip, then be on your way! That's it! Great food that's hot and ready for you!

It's a long line but worth it. Once you get in line it goes pretty fast, theirs a lot to choose from.

It's hard to drive by without stopping. Home cooked food & everyone gets to choose what they like. Best desserts around!

This is an old school style cafeteria like you were in school. Please note that almost every item has a cost and this is not a buffet. I got the roast beef which was great, along with green beans, potatoes and the free pie weds. I selected banana which is also great. I got 3-4 real good slices of roast beef. Food was great. Cost for 2 people was 32ish. You can cut your costs down by just getting water. We could have taken our costs down to 27 by just getting water.

22 family members for lunch and 95 percent of all food was cold and prepared hours ahead of lunch time. Last two times we have visited we’ve been over charged for the sides. I live in Mooresville bur this was definitely our last visit here.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT HERE. It is a cafeteria where you line up and get food like their DELICOUS pies and then you can get a entrée and vegetables on the side. After 5 years of patronizing this place, I have an order of 2 fried chicken legs, green beans, and mashed potatoes without gravy. And of course, the best apple pie on the planet for dessert. Then you pay and seat yourself. Perfect place. I make it a point to stop here at least 5 times a year since it's on the way home from school in Indy. It's also like 15 minutes away from the airport so if you just landed in Indy, it's not too far away, or you can eat here before getting on the flight. One thing to note: If possible eat on a weeknight, or at off-peak hours. Saturdays and Sunday brunch tend to be the most crowded.

I was introduced to Gray's a few years ago. Probably my favorite "buffet" style of eating out of any other restaurant . To clarify, its not a buffet. You stand in line cafeteria style, and people serve you the meal you choose from behind the glass. The workers are always so friendly and the portions of food are huge. Today I had the baked Mahi Mahi, broc with cheese, mac and cheese, deviled eggs, and cheesecake. Everything was delicious, I was impressed with the Mahi Mahi. It was perfectly cooked, and had a great breading on it. Sides and deviled eggs were good too!! Also to note, they do not serve alcohol here. The price does throw me off a bit. For two meals (with 2 sides, one slice of cheesecake, and 3 deviled eggs) it was almost $50. Anywhere else, I'd say "yeah, definitely reasonable." But for cafeteria style food, seems a little pricey. Don't get me wrong, the food is good. I don't know, maybe I'm used to the pre pandemic days where golden corral was $13 all you can eat (this is not all you can eat btw). Service is also a little hit or miss here. The servers are supposed to clear plates and refill drinks. Sometimes they are awesome, other times I get my own refills from the machines. Overall, we always celebrate our older relatives birthdays at this restaurant. I think its a great place for memories and the locals seem to have been coming here for years. I'd definitely recommend giving it a chance!
