The reviewer who gave Birddog Cafe three stars must be out of their mind! I just had the best breakfast I have had in a long, long time. Stop reading this review right now and get over there... If you are still with me, the Birddog Cafe is in the heart of downtown Muncie, Indiana in an unassuming brick building. Wooden floors, high ceilings, and a warm atmosphere are the first thing you notice. Birddog is a bit different than most restaurants in the fact you place your order at the counter and then find a seat. They bring your food out to you. The menu is hung on the wall next to the counter and is a simple affair. Breakfast sandwich, classic egg breakfast, french toast, eggs Benedict, and biscuits & gravy are some of the choices. They also have a lunch options. Drinks are 20oz botttles of soda, bottles of orange juice, coffee, and cups for water are how you quench your thirst. The prices are very reasonable. Once you place your order, it's time to grab your silverware, drinks, and find a place to sit. If I remember correctly, there are only eight tables and only two of them seat more than two people. My son and I both ordered the biscuits & gravy. I ordered mine with a coffee, and Jack got a bottle of soda. The B&Gs consist of two scratch-made biscuits with two eggs, cooked to your specification, and smothered in sausage gravy. Too many times, many restaurants make sausage gravy that tastes like paste, but not at Birddog Cafe! Their sausage gravy is rich, creamy, and flavorfull. They also don't skimp on the sausage. I can hear you say "Only two biscuits? That's isn't enough!", and you'd be wrong. Two biscuits with two eggs, and a mound of gravy is plenty! I left full, felling on the verge of almost, slightly too full. The coffee at the Birddog Cafe is outstanding! I am so tired of cheap, bad tasting coffee at restaurants, but the Birddog does coffee right. Dark, rich, and oh so good. The food is amazing. Other restauranteurs, need to visit and take note on to do it right. The Birddog Cafe deserves everyones love and support. Run, don't walk, and form a line that wraps around the block, and support an outstanding local business!

Very welcoming as soon as I walked in. Had a call in order and it was hot and ready when I got there. Breakfast sandwich and the skull muffins are the bomb. Can’t wait to come back for more!!

One of the best and most unique little cafes in our city. The flavors here are way different from anything else in Muncie. I highly recommend the tiramisu cinnamon rolls!

Great service, the informed us the kitchen was behind, but it was definitely worth the wait. The jalapeño cheddar bagel was one of the best I have had. As a vegetarian I also enjoy the option to have avocado instead of meat with no up-charge!! Small and cozy place, definitely will be going back to try more things!

What can I say about birddog cafe? We happened upon this place on a random Saturday and it has became my fiancé and i’s favorite breakfast joint in Muncie. The food is phenomenal, be sure to get there early enough to get the scratch made pastries (I have yet to have a bad one, look out for the pistachio or blueberry it’s my favorite). The breakfast sandwich is on scratch made bagels, croissants or homemade bread. The biscuits and gravy are the best in the area by a mile. The atmosphere is cool, relaxed and friendly, with always the best selections of 90s kid nostalgia cartoons playing. The music is great and just at the right volume allows for drowning out others conversation gives a private feeling to a small area. Plus it’s nice to not be hearing the top 40 hits that we get bashed over the head with. And be sure to ask about the blessing of Pauly Shore and how he keeps the place running smoothly. If you are on the fence about stopping please stop stalling you are missing out. Ryn, Becca, and Kelsey are always quick to make you feel like a regular and greet you as you come in a lot like you’re on the cast of cheers.

Food and service were both great, and I love the atmosphere! They were playing very good music at the perfect volume, it was loud enough to drown out the screaming kid at the table next to us yet quiet enough to where we didn’t have to yell over it and could still hear each other perfectly fine. If you have a good taste in music, you will enjoy the atmosphere… if you don’t, you won’t. Pro tip: get the breakfast sandwich on a croissant and add tomato jam! It’s so good!

The food was great! We would totally come back for the food, but the very loud and intense heavy metal/punk rock music will likely have us choosing a different spot next time which is too bad. It felt like we were at a rock concert and we could barely think of talk to each other. My feedback for the owner is to change the music selection.

I had Birddog Cafe for the first time a week ago and I haven’t stopped dreaming about it since ? HIGHLY recommend the brownie and the Boo Radley sandwich. The atmosphere is cozy and bright. I saw people here on business lunches, on their laptops working, and a family playing a game with their kid. I personally found the metal chairs uncomfortable, but the sofa was really nice!My only complaint was disappointed by how tough the bagel was.

I work in downtown Muncie so I am always on the lookout for delicious food joints to try. Breakfast options downtown are especially limited, unless you want fast food. Upon walking in, my associate and I were greeted by a phenomenal looking pastry bar, as the kind woman behind the counter was boxing up some carrot cake loaves. We were greeted with a smile, and truly felt welcomed in this warm and eccentric atmosphere. We both ordered the biscuits and gravy menu option, which included two eggs. I ordered my eggs over hard, and they were cooked beautifully. The biscuits and gravy were also amazing. The gravy itself was loaded with sausage and the consistency was just right. As I engulfed myself in this wonderful meal back at the office, I realized just how flaky and delicious these biscuits were. Combined with the eggs, the biscuits and gravy made for the perfect breakfast meal and it was prepared in such a way that anyone would know the love and dedication that has gone into this business and the product it sells. After the pure bliss I felt from eating this meal, only one thing is for certain. I will be returning to Birddog Cafe.

Little did I know that such a gem existed until today. Birddog is a flawless diamond in the rough. Handmade items all around. From their bakery creations, to their soups and amazing sandwiches and sides. I ordered the mushroom melt and a side of dill pickle pasta salad. Both did not disappoint. The melt tasted exactly how I imagined it would, based on the ingredients. Grilled mushrooms, onions, spinach, yummmm. The pasta salad was a pleasant surprise. Sides are usually predictable but this was a flavor explosion. Oh, and you have to try the bourbon pumpkin pie with crumble topping. Nice job Birddog!!!
