i never knew food could be so tasty,,,
the catfish(with their slightly spicy sauce) was DIVINE and the breading they use for the chicken was SCRUMPTIOUS. i didn't even know I liked collared greens but apparently i love em! everything was perfect, the staff was so kind, we were really treated like family :D plus students get some nice deals!!

one note: they do not have many tables set up for large groups, biggest is 4 seats but they helped us move some tables together to get 6 seats

Parking: On a typical day it's not bad to park nearby in any of the 2 hours spots (you might wanna spend more than 2 hours here)

Wheelchair accessibility: The building had a curb before getting in the front door, if you can do a wheelie or have a friend you MIGHT be able to make it, but it's a difficult step up. The restaurant is fairly wheelchair accessible, seats are far apart and they're more than willing to move things! there is no AC far as I could tell, but it wasn't too hot altogether
the doors are a bit heavy, could be hard with limited mobility
it's a historic building so it is not a extremely accessible

Step into Mama and Sons Soul Food Restaurant and be transported to a world of comfort and warmth. This cozy eatery is a true gem, serving up authentic soul food that will leave your taste buds singing and your belly full.

As soon as you walk in, you're enveloped in the savory aromas of slow-cooked goodness, and the friendly staff greets you with a smile that feels like a big ol' hug. The decor is warm and inviting, with vintage touches that add to the down-home charm.

But the real magic happens on the plate. Mama's fried chicken is crispy perfection, with a secret seasoning blend that'll make your mouth water just thinking about it. The collard greens are slow-cooked to tender, tangy perfection, and the mac 'n cheese is creamy and divine. And don't even get me started on the cornbread dressing - it's moist, delicious, and utterly addictive.

Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the service is top-notch. This family-owned restaurant is a true treasure, and I can't wait to go back for more. If you're a soul food lover, or just looking for a delicious meal that'll make you feel like you're sittin' at Mama's kitchen table, look no further. Mama and Sons has got you covered!

Fast friendly service, even though Faith, our server was only on her 2nd week. Fish was delicious and crispy. Sweet potatoes were heaven. Greens tasted like they were cooked your grandma. The prices were good as well. I didn't see the banana pudding until I was already cashing out. I am excited to try the chicken next time. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience.

DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE! I've been looking for a place to get quality fish and this place exceeded my expectations. My girlfriend and I split a 3pc thigh with collards, mac & cheese, and a piece of whitefish. Everything was incredible, especially the collards! The skin on the chicken was so crispy; we've really never had anything as good as this place. They deserve triple the business they get there. Can't recommend them enough.

Don't order the fish or Mac n cheese or cornbread. The tea is pre-made. I felt sorry for the server as she was limping and didn't appear to have any training as a server. The fried chicken looked ok. The coleslaw was good. The greens had an interesting flavor (BBQ sauce?). I'm sorry but would not recommend this place. They were very kind and polite.
