The coleslaw was good. The greens had an interesting flavor (BBQ sauce?). I'm sorry but would not recommend this place. They were very kind and polite.

My son and I stopped in for lunch and both got fish. One catfish, the other got whiting. I wish I could figure out the seasoning on the fish because it was excellent.Mashed potatoes tasted fresh, not powdered. Just wish the green beans had a touch of seasoning in them. He liked his mac and cheese and the taste of the corn muffin was great.We also tried the BBQ wings and they were huge and tasted great.My only complaint was the size of the glass of tea as nd no one ever came around to refill.
Tried Mama's and Son for the first time, and had a good experience. We ordered the sampler platter that included 4 meats, and it was a good amount of porkchops, chicken, fish nuggets, and sides for our family of 4.The service from the server and "Mama herself, was friendly, warm, and inviting.The AMAZING: the fried fish, bbq chicken wings, fried whole chicken wings, and pork chop. Also the attentive service from Mama and her server was great.The just ok: the mac n cheese, sweet potatoes.The not so good: saying the restaurant needed a cleaning might be too harsh, but we felt like the restaurant could use a little "detail". The salt and pepper shakers, hot sauce bottle, etc, did need to be cleaned. It appears that the customer restroom is shared with other businesses in the building, that was the worst part. It does not appear to be owned by Mama's and Son restaurant, but customers use it. The building management should address the bathroom, so the businesses like Mama's that allow customers to use it don't get blamed for the nasty and smelly bathroom.Will go back, and highly recommended for great soul food and portions.4 stars for service and food.

I waited 15 minutes for a menu to be brought to my table and there was no one else in the restaurant . Took over 30 minutes to get my food. I was thoroughly disappointed. Ordered 2 pieces of chicken. One piece was freshly cooked the other was not. Mac and cheese was not good tasted like it came from a box. Cornbread was good but thats about it. Will not return.

First time there for me. My husband had been there before and was really impresed with the greens. When I tried them, I was also impressed. The fresh fried chicken was some of the best I have ever tasted. Service was more than 5 stars but that's the most system will let me show. Actually got to meet Mama and she was so nice! Our server was super nice also. I am sure we will be going back often.

First but not last time eating here. Mary, my waitress, was soo friendly and attentive - but not overly much. The atmosphere is clean and spacious. Not overly crowded but still plenty of seating. I had the Western omelet. It came with a hashbrown-similar to McD but larger. Delicious! Also, choice of pancake or French toast. The French toast was like dessert, sweet with a crunchy topping - best ever! The omelet was excellent! Lots of meat & veggies still had some crunch to them. Orange juice was good. I did sample the sausage gravy. This was the only thing I would pass on. The gravy had a sweetness and gritty texture I wasn't expecting or fond of. All food was freshly prepared (I waited about 20 minutes) and was served hot! All this for about $14 dollars. Very generous portions - half the omelet & hashbrown boxed to go. Interested in trying their lunch / dinner items. I'll be back!
