Attended a rehearsal dinner here. It was the best food I have ever had at such an event - bringing out ~40 plates out at the same time is hard, and usually the food reflects the compromises that have to be made. This food was wonderful.
The building is great as well. This is a gem that is worth the trip to Muncie if you do not live there

We celebrated our 48th anniversary. They met us at the door with an anniversary card and champagne on the house. ÑY strip was perfect. Kendal was our wait staff and she was terrific. Thank you so much for a great evening.

This is absolutely a hidden gem in the heart of Muncie. Went with my fiancé for my birthday, was a very relaxed, comfortable environment. The music was also great, classic oldies. The service was spectacular, we actually ended up having 2 waiters/waitresses for a bit because the staff was so enthusiastic to help us. I really wish I could remember the waitresses name (short haired blonde with glasses for any corporate members reading this), but she was very helpful in navigating the menu, as well as quick with the appetizers/food, and also shoutout to the wonderful young woman refilling our water glasses as soon as they needed it. Although we did not have any, the wine list just by a simple look at the wall was astonishing, widening from deep California reds all the way to the notorious Reisling. The food was absolutely spectacular, I was very impressed with the chef's knowledge of Italian foods, as well as the Calamari and the shrimp cocktail. And to finish off a perfect dinner, we had the chocolate gnash cake, which was also baked to perfection. Everything was amazing, this is a 10/10 for me and I highly recommend anyone searching for an authentic dining experience, not just in taste, but in atmosphere, to come here. Thank you so much Vera's, we absolutely will be back!! ❤️

*I sent this text to the owners directly last week on May 4th.* I received no reply.....In lieu of posting a one-star review on Google, we decided to contact you guys directly. Tonight was a rough night for your establishment. I've worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade, and someone needs to know how bad things were. The first noticeable problem was that the place had a significant haze of smoke in both parts of the restaurant. Apparently, there is a problem with your hoods. It's bad timing for that, considering its graduation weekend for Ball State. Your staff were doing the best they could, but everything, and I mean everything (drinks, salads, apps, entrees) took for f ing ever. The food was marginal at best. The best thing I ate there tonight were the rolls. That is sad for what you guys charge for entrees. I love a good Ribeye!! But not a $50 Ribeye that was worse than what I could get at a grocery store. There was no flavor, and it was chewier than a diner steak. I'm not an expert at finer dining, but it looks like you booked too many tables, and the place was falling apart. Your staff was trying the best they could, but it was obvious that they were stressed because they knew that people were not happy. Again, I didn't want to go public with this review and actively discourage people from coming to your establishment because I know that everyone can have a bad night. BUT! For the amount you charge for food and drinks, you need to do better.Apparently the French Onion Soup is amazing! I wouldn't know because you guys ran out of it by 7:30 pm ?

Our first visit for my mom’s 80th birthday celebration was wonderful! Our server Helen was lovely, and the ambience was incredible. Our table for 8 was in a perfect area, under a skylight and away from heavy traffic. We really enjoyed the wontons, filet, cod, and Hollandaise Chicken.

Celebrated my grandson's graduation here at Vera Mae's and it was late. Everyone worked to make sure we could be seated and order our food although they had a very busy day. I highly recommend this business. Thank you!

I always have a great experience when visiting this place and love the level of care the new ownership is putting into it. The establishment was in need of a new direction and some attention which the new owners are putting in! I absolutely loved the NY Strip we had the other night and will continue to frequent this establishment!

our food was so bad. i chose this place for my birthday dinner. i was surprised that i was so unlucky to get the worst steak they had. then after we left, someone commented to me that they had better steak at applebees, saying their steak was all gristle. i had the exact same thought eating mine (but kept it to myself) so it was weird that someone else said it out loud. it was genuinely the worst steak i ever had. it was like eating an old boot, rubbery and flavorless. the place is decorated beautifully though, and it would have had a great atmosphere if not for the bar. the bar was very busy with very drunk older people. they were shouting, cussing, and slamming things around loudly (not sure what that was about). at one point, a drunk woman wondered over to our table and interrupted our dinner to speak to me about my appearance. she was very kind but clearly very drunk. the service was okay, pretty standard. they were polite. there was a piano player, which i really enjoyed, but so did the drunk people, as the people at the bar were shouting that that’s why they come to drink at vera mae’s. this place used to have a wonderful reputation, and used to be one of the best restaurants in muncie. I’m not sure what changed. it could have just been a bad night. but we are not going back and it’s now the place we joke about going to when we talk about where to go for dinner.

One of our new favorite restaurants. My husband ran across a “Top 5 Romantic Restaurants” ad on social media, and Vera Mae’s was on there. We decided to try it out for Valentine’s Day. The service and food were SPECTACULAR. They time the food out perfectly so you never run out or get overwhelmed with a thousand plates on your table. Everyone is here very attentive and pleasant. Looking forward to our next visit!
