Went to karaoke at bear winery with my 13and 15 year old. The first time going the karaoke and my daughter went up to sing the dj turned up the background up so much it altered my child’s voice to where she couldn’t really be heard. Tonight we returned and we asked the dj to NOT have background vocals on. As my daughter went on stage the karaoke equipment broke down and dj took 20 mins to reboot computer and equipment was still down. He then used YouTube as a workaround, and due to his incompetence, told my daughter there wasn’t a karaoke version of her song. (There is, and many options actually). Therefore instead of singing the song my daughter requested she had to do a sing a long with the actual artist in background. Myself and others couldn’t even hear my daughter’s voice. Not wanting to cause a scene, but needing to address the situation. I simply gave the karaoke DJ a small note explaining my dissatisfaction.. His wife, Holly who does not own, the business, had approached me and started harassing me then insulted and belittled my daughters who are children and threatened us to leave the winery. This Karaoke is by far the most unprofessional and discriminating place I’ve ever been to in my life. It’s a shame because the winery isn’t bad but the gigs they book with this karaoke has made me never want to go to this place again.
Me and friends went in for lunch today and ready to drink some good wine. The selection of wine was very poor The one I was interested in, Papaw, they did not have and the Poor Richard's Red tasted like semi-sweet vinegar.
I ordered the lasagna, it was overloaded with cheese, had three small pieces of Italian sausage and maybe two pieces of lasagna noodles. A friend ordered the hot ham and cheese with Parmesan fries, it came out cold, with the sandwich never being put in the roaster / oven, the fries were very cold. She sent it back and it took quite a while to get the new order. There were five of us here at noon today, not one other person was in the winery the whole time. How sad as I remember River City winery always being crowded and having the best selection of wine. Won't be going back anytime soon unfortunately.
I am really surprised at the five-star reviews, maybe we just went in on a very bad day but it is Friday in the month of December-???!
Had an absolute wonderful lunch today! Meredith was such a kind host and server, I would be so happy to come back again. Got to sample the seasonal Pumpkin Pie wine (made in house!) and it was so lovely.
Will have to come back to sample more wine and pizza.
Spotless bar and tables with a mature ambiance in the heart of downtown New Albany.
Worst experience at a restaurant Ive ever had. Service was absolutely terrible. Took 45 minutes just to get a drink. We were there over 2 1/2 hours and left extremely disappointed. My appetizer didn’t come out until after I got my meal only because I told them i never received it. They ended up bringing it to me 15 minutes after I finished my meal. Almost half of our table had their food wrong or missing items. We waited so long for someone to come to our table, I ended up going to the bar every time we needed something and serving our table. It became a joke that everyone would tip me at the end of the meal since I did all the work! Two of us walked across the street to Rec Bar to get a drink and when we returned to our table, we still hadn’t received our drinks we ordered! Once the bill came she said she would discount mine due to their error on the appetizer and missing items. $1.80 was taken off my ticket. $1.80!!! Are you kidding me???! I thought it was a joke and then she told me it was actually only 90 cents that was to be taken off but she doubled it because it was her fault. What??!!! I will never return to this establishment.
I had called ahead a week in advance and scheduled a reservation for a large party, but unfortunately the experience was entirely disappointing. The restaurant appeared short-staffed, and there was a noticeable lack of communication between the servers and kitchen. It took three hours for our food to come out and everyone to have been served, which made the afternoon frustrating for everyone. Some folks cancelled their orders and left because they had places they needed to be. We had hoped for better coordination and service, especially after booking in advance. The staff were very very kind and trying their best. The restaurant was not prepared today. Overall, not a good experience and largely put a damper on the event we were celebrating making for an awkward and unhappy departure between friends and family. I hope in time they can improve. It’s a beautiful atmosphere and restaurant.
Our first visit last night was amazing. The patio was so perfect and our waitress was very attentive. We ordered the cauliflower crust pizza which was fabulous and the pumpkin wine was phenomenal. Would absolutely come again!
We had a less than stellar dinner experience here.
We decided to try Baers City Winery because a musician we like was playing there. Perhaps because of the entertainment, the restaurant was fairly busy when we arrived. Unfortunately it seemed as if the management hadn't anticipated this, and they were improperly staffed for the amount of patrons.
While we were seated quickly, we waited a significant amount of time before anyone approached our group at the table. (We later found out this was because our server was called into work at the last minute after we arrived.) Service overall was very slow, and no one in our group was particularly impressed with any of our food or wine selections. The best thing on the menu was definitely the beer.
On top of all that, when I used the restroom there was water (condensation, I hope!) actively and profusely dripping from the venting in the ceiling.
The music was enjoyable, though!
The Kentucky chambourcin is very good. It is medium bodied with a slightly spicy finish. I seek out locally grown and made wines. The Norton wine is excellent. Some of the best I have had.
Our first visit to Baer was last Sunday, and we couldn’t wait to go back again this Sunday! The food is consistently delicious and DeShawn is the BEST server in all the lands!!! We truly look forward to our Sunday visits to unwind, drink delicious wine and eat the most savory food!!!
An Unforgettable Experience at Baers City Winery!
From the moment we walked through the doors of Baers City Winery, we were welcomed with the kind of warmth and hospitality that immediately sets the tone for a perfect evening. The customer service was truly exceptional—friendly, attentive, and genuine, making us feel like VIPs from the very start.
The ambiance was inviting and lively, enhanced by an incredible lineup of live music that added just the right touch of energy and charm to the night. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was crafted with care, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Paired with their outstanding selection of wines—i recommend the Papaw—it became a dining experience to remember.
Whether you’re a wine lover, a foodie, or just looking for a great night out, Baers City Winery delivers on every level. We can’t wait to come back and relive the magic all over again!

Absolutely incredible experience! The wine here is truly amazing—some of the best I’ve had. The customer service is spot on; the staff is so attentive and genuinely cares about your experience. Every dish we tried came out piping hot and was absolutely delicious. From start to finish, everything was top-notch. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place that gets it all right—wine, food, and service!
My friend said after the last time we were there, she was done with the winery.
What????? No response!!!!!!
It took forever to even order our food. It appeared to only be two servers and they were also seating people and bartending. The food was decent but the overall experience was frustrating
Had a reservation for 6:30 tonight. The waiter seemed stressed and annoyed once we arrived, but seated us. Waited for thirty minutes and was never approached by a server for water or an order. Tried to get a drink at the bar, but that line was extremely backed up due to the lack of wait staff. Finally learned they only had three servers working the entire restaurant. Don’t accept reservations if you can’t accommodate. We were not the only table to leave.
Our food was absolutely delicious and you can't beat the atmosphere! highly recommend!
