We dine at this restaurant often, and the food is consistently top notch with impeccable service. Robert, the owner, is very hands-on—always engaging with guests, sharing his knowledge, and even stepping behind the bar to make cocktails. It’s refreshing to see an owner so attentive and involved.
We’ve never had a bad meal here, except for this past weekend when my husband ordered the filet. Unfortunately, it wasn’t up to the standard we’ve come to expect—it was rubbery and not edible, but Robert immediately had a new steak prepared and explained that they were testing a new supplier. He genuinely valued our feedback and mentioned that the previous steaks were a big reason we keep coming back.
I ordered the whitefish, and it was absolutely superb—perfectly cooked and served over rice with a lemon white wine cream sauce. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
We always sit at the bar and love watching the bartenders craft cocktails. They are personable, friendly, and make the experience even better.
Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in St. Joseph. Occasional hiccups happen, but the way they’re handled here speaks volumes.

From start to finish, our experience at 221 Main was absolutely flawless and truly unforgettable. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and they went above and beyond to make the occasion special.
The ambiance is elegant yet comfortable. The perfect setting for a romantic dinner. The service was impeccable; our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm without being intrusive.
The food, however, is the star of the show. Every dish was prepared and presented with exceptional care. We started with the spicy shrimp appetizer, which was amazing. For the main course, the ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth, and the whipped potatoes. When we were seated, we found a handwritten note on our table congratulating us on our anniversary. This personal touch showed a level of care and attention to detail that is rare to find today.
Thank you, 221 Main, for an exquisite meal and for helping us create a beautiful memory. This isn't just a great meal; it's a fantastic dining experience. We are already looking forward to our next trip.

Worst dinner ever. Duck breast is tough and tiny. With a side of crappy corn . Got my dinner to go. No dressing for salad I paid $7 for a bunch of arugula. No bread. Bread pudding I think maybe the chefs kid made. What a joke! $69 for dinner. I’d expect at least some decent bread to fill me up! Had to order pizza because it was so bad.

The ambiance is nothing short of amazing featuring soft lighting,with lots of beautiful mirrors.
We ordered -The Roasted Whitefish : parmesan encrusted, lemon caper sauce, rice pilaf, seasonal vegetable ( zucchini and squash) and An order of sautéed mushrooms.
It was delicious!!! We LOVED this restaurant and will be back!
