Our first visit... and we'll be back! This place is a hidden gem. It was the whole package for us... great food and drink, great service, and a really cool room - and not overly pricey for what we got. Worth the drive!

I want to start by saying, this is not my first visit to The Prewitt. It has a great location, history, and the atmosphere is ripe with opportunities! The latter is where The Prewitt has gone flat and failed to find its niche. Most recently, my wife and I booked an Anniversary reservation, and despite the fact we noted it was our Anniversary, we were seated in the main dining area amongst a Twilight themed trivia night (that started shortly after we were seated). A previous visit, they had a Live acoustic musician in the main dining area that made it nearly impossible to have a conversation.
While I can understand the need to generate additional business during the week, or attract young and old alike…
The Prewitt needs some work with tailoring the dining experience to their guests. They offer an upscale dining experience and menu, but then ruin it with an atmosphere that does not match the food, drink, or ambiance. I personally LOVE the silent movie atmosphere, but The Prewitt too often doesn’t fully embrace that atmosphere for their upscale dining guests.
The Prewitt should better utilize the various spaces and levels that it offers and ensure they are matching the dining experience to their guests. Simple change and training with their hostesses.
Food/Drink Review: Great appetizers and drink/cocktail options. Main entrees are good and fairly priced (they were more expensive when they first opened). Dinner cost for 2 with couple glasses of wine was ~$100.
[again…People want a good dining atmosphere/experience at this price point]

Joe was a fantastic sever, highly recommend!
We sat upstairs, a little quieter, very cool old-timey vibes. Dragonfruit sangria, stuffed mushrooms, chicken pot pie soup, royale w/ cheese, Brussels, copa cabana flatbread - all very tasty, and fair price points.

Service was terrible. One person in party never rcvd food, server ignored table. Then argued that it wasn’t her fault. Then bad mouthed the situation to a customer sitting at the bar which made the whole situation very uncomfortable. The overall experience was not pleasant. Would not recommend this restaurant if you want a nice evening out with friends and family.

My client took me and another co-worker out to dinner for a thanks for all our hard work and dedication to the account. Our waiter Joe was a true delight and definitely made our dining experience very memorable. Joe was very personable and lots of fun. And of course the food was very delicious!

This restaurant has become one of the most consistently poorly run establishments of its caliber that I’ve ever visited. I’ve given them three chances, and they’ve failed every time. The first visit, shortly after opening, was the best—but still not great. We tried again for a Christmas movie night, and the popcorn tasted like chemicals and the food is mediocre at best. On top of that, it was a hassle just to get seated with our friends.
I gave it one last shot yesterday (2/23) and took my daughter around 4:30 PM—not an unusual time—and the place was nearly empty. Despite this, the staff seemed completely unprepared for customers. The three girls at the front scrambled, one muttering, “Where do we put them?”—even though the entire theater room was wide open. They ended up seating us upstairs alone, and we waited over 10 minutes before a waitress even appeared.
When she finally arrived, she ignored us at first, chatting instead with another waitress about how they weren’t left with what they needed for their shift. They didn’t even acknowledge us sitting right next to them. I had to interrupt their conversation… “Hey - do you know who the waitress is up here?” - and she whipped around shocked I was there, and said “that would be me.”
To top it off, the Coke I ordered was syrup-heavy and flat. I had noticed as she was pouring it that I could hear a lot of empty CO2 coming out, and at one point, I saw her sniffing the liquid coming from the tap from a different cup—yet she still served it to me instead of going downstairs to get a proper one. And then there was my meal—the fried chicken sandwich I ordered came out grilled, pink in the middle, and completely undercooked.
This was supposed to be a special dinner after a daddy-daughter dance—my daughter’s first “fancy restaurant” experience. The only redeeming part was the waitress, who—once she realized we were there—did the right thing by comping part of the meal. However, I could never justify wasting my money here again and strongly encourage others to avoid it as well. This still ran me $45 for this visit because I found it important to take care of the waitress. Despite not being noticed at the start, she was completely embarrassed and it’s obvious she isn’t given the tools to properly do her job.
I had high hopes for this place when it opened in Plainfield, but unless they make serious operational changes and hire competent staff, it’s destined to fail—which is a shame.

Rented igloo space for 2 hours. We were moved inside since our meal hadn’t been delivered yet. Sat for some time without water and a spoon for soup. Food was good and price reasonable. Waitress was pleasant. Suspect they were understaffed that day.

Our server was fabulous and had such good recommendations for us as it was our 1st there We had an appetizer of the fried brussel sprouts with dip that was fantastic..it was so good we asked for more of the brussel sprouts points since we still had dip leftover..
My friend had a bloody Mary and he said it was the best one he had ever had. Since I couldn't have any alcohol due to a long drive home the server made a mocktail for me that was homemade lemonade, soda, lavender and mint with fresh blueberries and lemon slice that was a delicious and refreshing.
I would highly recommend stopping in and giving it a try if you have not been there. Looking forward to going again!

Our server Joe, he’s awesome, sold us on the surf and turf. The filet was cooked to perfection, the shrimp was a great compliment along with the potatoes and brussel sprouts! The vibe in the Prewitt is quite unique and nostalgic! It was a great evening with friends and I highly recommend The Prewitt for casual or upscale dining!

Interesting place. Good food and great service (thanks Kelly!). Enjoyed the igloo on the roof. Liked the options for sharables or dinner plates. The menu was large enough to provide options but not so big as to overwhelm.
Parking: Small lot behind building or garage across the street.
Kid-friendliness: Not for littles. Teens would be good.
Wheelchair accessibility: Lots of stairs.

Prewitt is now informally called “The Joe Show”. Sorry not sorry. Our server Joe was ah-mazing. A1 recommendations, excellent hospitality, phenomenal sense of humor. The food could be trash and I’d go back just for Joe and drinks. The food was delicious though. Everything was well cooked and seasoned. We were in an igloo on the top floor and received our food at perfect temp.

Not going to get explain it. First time here for a Saturday lunch. Seated around three pm. Took a long time to get served. Will never come back. Limited menu. Everything was pretty much served luke warm. For the cost of the meals these problems should not happen. Sad, because we were looking forward to a great experience. Sad.
