The most disappointed I've been with Mexican food in a long time. The margaritas are very poorly balanced, so much mix... The place was basically deserted yet we waited 35 minutes for our food. I got the steak burrito and the steak was very overcooked. Overhyped and overpriced.

I had such a great time at El Salto’s Halloween costume party in Schererville! The place looked amazing and DJ Chico kept the energy going all night, definitely one of the highlights. My server did a great job and my food was delicious.
A few things that could make next year even better: the costume contest didn’t start until around 11:30 p.m., even though the event started at 9. By that time, a lot of people had already left, which took away some of the excitement. Starting closer to the advertised time would help keep the crowd involved.
The judging also felt a little inconsistent, maybe having categories like Most Creative, Scariest, and Sexiest with different prize levels could make it feel more balanced and fair for everyone.
Since it was promoted as an adult event, I was a bit surprised to see kids in the contest, it changed the vibe a little for those of us who went all out with adult-themed costumes.
Overall though, it was a super fun night, and I really appreciate the effort the El Salto team put into making it festive. Maybe next year, participants could even get a small thank-you like a coupon or something for joining the contest.
Can’t wait to see what you all do next year, thanks again for hosting such a fun event!
Love Charmaine M.

Awesome!
I would like to officially thank the amazing staff for outstanding service and highly recommend El Salto in Schererville!! We continue to appreciate you for treating us like family and friends week after week, and LOVE all of your delicious food! Thank you for making every visit feel like a celebration!
Maria actually sucked. I hope to never see her again. She kept walking around mindlessly maybe even avoiding us. Went around asking others how they were and never came to us once. Then she had the nerve to stand next to the table next to us and just speak to the people. Are you serious? No wonder she didn’t do jack the tip is already included. Please fire her for the worst service never came even once to our table. However if you don’t care for service at all, then go for the food! The food was amazing. Watch out for maria though she won’t even let you leave for how long she takes. Never got extra water or drinks either. Horrible Maria

Had a great time, experience, and enjoyed everything
Food is great. It's probably the best sports bar-esq Mexican shop in the region (both locations have the same menu).
However, it's a crummy half-baked sports bar vibe and the wait staff need training badly. They are friendly enough, but they don't understand their jobs.

I got the fish tacos. Really good and tender. It came with rice and donkey chips with salsa. I spent around 15 and some change. The one critique would be they don't give you enough salsa for your chips.

Came in on 7/18 with my lady friend. We were immediately seated and promptly giving Chips & Salsa as appetizers. When I sat down, I noticed food under the table, visible while approaching... OK, no big deal. But my lady friend pointed out a small strand of red hair on her Flautas & how overcooked the meat was inside. I hoped the small red hair was some kind of fiber, but I think I was trying to pacify myself lol. She swapped one of her Flautas with one of my Tacos, and the meat was indeed overcooked and crunchy. Then she saw the same red hair that was in her Flautas, in the Taco I gave her.
So to be fair, service was fair and her Strawberry Frozen Margarita was good, tacos were good, but the hair, dirty floor, and burnt meat was a turn off. If management can implement hair nets and better cleaning practices, I'd come back. The rice & beans were good as well.

I had two different waiters which equated to two different experiences. The first visit we had a guy and it was top notch all the way. The second experience was with a lady and it was just ok. But overall I will be returning for more.

I just left there on a taco Tuesday. $5 margaritas (16oz). The tacos Jalisco were very good and Brianna was a very good bartender. She listened to all my drunken bs lol. I will come visit her again.
