I'm so sad the way the new owners have literally murdered what was always excellent food. The beef was inedible. Sliced so thin it was just dry flaky mush. I ran the kitchen in cal.city and boy we had much higher standards.I imagine many that knew pepe's standards are seeing the new owners are shaming the pepinos name. Its steadily gotten worse since pepe retired. The combo as seen literally just completely fell apart without taking a bite. Slop on a plate.

I had my first hamburger at Pepino's. It was very large and cooked perfectly. I think it's the best hamburger I have ever had from a carryout place.

I've been a long time fan dating back to when they were in Calumet city. I've used them for catering several times with great success. always enjoy stopping in to grab something to eat as well. I do miss the bone-in pork chop sandwich but I can understand how selling that might be a bit of a liability. LOL all in all, the place never disappoints

Beefs used to be good, but the last few times it’s been hit or miss. Also it would be nice to be treated like your other customers. Walked in went to the register the young man didn’t speak or anything.

Update! I have ordered here before and again the consistency of food is different on a day-to-day basis.
I ordered a Italian beef and sausage combo and the first two visits were excellent everything was perfect and exactly how I requested which was Italian beef and sausage combo with the sausage well done.
However, the third time I ordered my stomach got very upset there was not a consistency between the first two experiences and there seem to be a bit of a rush so I don't want to over exaggerate but I will be back and this is a good place to look forward to improvement!!!

The best and most generous Italian Beef sandwich I've had. It's too bad the fries were limp, the pasta in the pasta salad was way under-cooked, and the cannoli shells were soggy. You can't stuff a cannoli hours in advance and have the shells remain crispy.
Best beef sandwiches around! And HUGE!
