Service and food were equally excellent. I would come back just for coffee and cake. Chicken Marsala was delicious. The lasagna was light and flavorful. Cheese wheel changes daily (carbonara) was made table side. Pheasant ravioli in mushroom cream sauce was the winner. I suggest you make a reservation but they will accommodate if they can.

We’ve been in South Bend for just over a year now, and this restaurant sits firmly at the top of my favorites list. Adele is not only exceptionally talented at her craft but also one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. Her menu transports you straight to Italy — it’s even written in Italian — and every dish is authentically prepared. You truly can’t go wrong with anything you order.

Our first time at Ciao's! What a pleasant and unexpected surprise! We had no expectations, but found this to be exceptional.

We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. Cocktails were well crafted and appetizers of eggplant parmesan and mussels in a flavorful broth were excellent. We were pleasantly surprised to find a couple of domestic selections on the wine list in addition to traditional Italian offerings.

My dining partner had a delicious Pollo Marsala. I selected the Linguine All' Aragosta (Lobster Pasta) that was the best Italian dish I've had in years.

My only ding on this experience is that our server was uninformed about the menu and wine list. He was a really nice guy, but had no information about the menu - ingredients and preparation. He also neglected a couple of specials that night, one of which I probably would have ordered. Nontheless, we will be back.

My first time here and will definitely be coming back! Great service, food was absolutely delicious and it was very pretty, cozy and clean inside. We got the pasta wheel and pollo piccata, and I picked out the hazelnut and pistachio pastries from their bakery case. Best meal and experience at a restaurant that I’ve had in a while.

Incredible. Service got a little slow towards the end but two staff were keeping up with the entire restaurant. Worth it for the food. Good wine menu and they have peroni!

I wanted to enjoy a nice dinner with my wife, but because I had to attend an event elsewhere just before the dinner that included hors d’oeuvres, and I didn’t wish to be out of place, so I helped myself to some hors d’oeuvres, I came without the need to have a full dinner.

So I decided to have a simple Caesar salad, and asked if they could include a few grilled shrimp. I was amazed by all of the perfectly cooked beautiful shrimp that was included on my Caesar salad. All too often today you get a mere hint of whatever is the chicken/steak/or shrimp that you might ask to have on a salad. I was very impressed.

Came in for a Valentine’s Day dinner. The spinach ravioli, giant ravioli stuffed with egg and cheese with freshly shaved truffle, and scallops in a half shell were delicious. Authentic Italian food at its best. The place needs a little more color and a small makeover but it’s charming and the staff are kind. The cannolis and chocolate truffle were also delicious. The place should have been packed but wasn’t. It gives a “hidden gem” vibe in downtown South Bend.

Great atmosphere, loved the food, and the people that work there made it feel like home. I’ll be back! Good wine too. I really liked the little pastry case at the front. Very fun❤️

My fiance and I signed up for one of the pasta cooking class. We had never been here before so didn't know what to expect. Hands down the best date night we have ever experienced in the area. The hospitality and food exceeded any expectation we had. Truly a one of a kind experience! 10/10 would recommend. I can't wait to try out the limoncello class!

Not So Strange

Absolutely stellar food. All freshly made with amazing flavors. The lasagna is always good, but the pheasant tortellini is life changing. They give you bread baskets of these little ciabatta rolls that are so chewy and delicious. The desserts can be a little expensive but are rich and light and everything you want, and if you go enough times the wait staff throws in a free dessert or two here and there. Go here if you haven’t, some of the best food in the michiana area.
