“My husband and I contacted the restaurant a couple weeks ago and made reservations, at that time we communicated that there was a severe salt restriction for my food. The restaurant did FABULOUS for honoring the restriction. We chose the chefs tasting menu. Each dish was presented with details on what it was and also what the sodium level was. The atmosphere was cozy and very romantic. The food DELICIOUS. Definitely a 5 star restaurant and one we will be going back to again. Highly reccomend!

“A little (word used intentionally) gem of a pun. The landlord stopped for a chat despite the place being packed for the Thursday night local Irish musicians jam. I counted five fiddles, six wind instruments and string instrument I did not recognize and two of the Irish drums held on the left hand. Quite the blast. Only thing that would have improved the place was a decent IPA, but I'm from Seattle so spoiled in that regard.”

The food here is routinely spectacular, a testament to the skill and diligence of the two cooks who have been with Ironhand since the beginning. This bar has LOTS of regulars; its Wine Club membership numbers well over 160 people. That says something about the quality of atmosphere that Ironhand’s owners and hardworking staff have cultivated for the last 7 years. If it’s not already a monthly or even weekly spot you visit, it should be.”

I ordered the chimi meal amd my daughters ordered chicken tacos and chicken enchilada. The food was really good. I liked the chips. The rice was standard, not super flavorful. The table next to us was a bit rude, swearing loudly, and making mean statements about the restaurant.

Their Mexican and American style street tacos were a hit with the crowd, not to mention the hot and mild home made salsa with chips! Rico himself, could not have been nicer, personally wrapping up all leftovers to go. Paying by corporate credit card via their square device was easy as well. A special shout out to Maria on the administrative side of the business for her high level of customer care! The price to provide 75 people with a tasty and filling lunch could not be beat either!! A huge thank you to all at Rico Suave for making the event a success. “My family traveled from Chicago to South Bend this weekend to pick up our service dog for my 5 year-old Autistic son. While the experience was amazing, my son struggled a bit with the trip, as he is very much a person of habit! He woke up Sunday morning asking for a cheeseburger. We scrambled to figure out where we could possibly get a cheeseburger at 8am, and we were excited to see a Burger King near our hotel. We packed up 4 kids and a service dog and headed over. We were quickly and kindly informed that lunch was not served until 11. I told the cashier I had an autistic kiddo in desperate need of a cheeseburger, and asked if she knew anywhere in the area I could get one. Another employee heard my situation and with no hesitation, swooped in said she will make him a cheeseburger. This woman went completely out of her way to help my son. She had a burger cooked and ready to go in minutes. She refused my money as I went to pay for it. When I thanked her profusely, she put her hand over her heart and told me so sincerely, “She understands”. Thank you to this wonderful woman for her kindness and compassion!”

“Stopped by the morning of 12/9/23 for a quick drive through breakfast and I have to say it was the most positive drive through experience I have ever had. I was 4 or 5 cars back in line and I don’t think I was in line for more than a couple minutes. Sandwich and coffee were great and the staff were extremely friendly, professional and efficient. This will undoubtedly be a Saturday morning staple for me on my way to work. Thank you and keep up the great work!”

“Best Italian in SB, hands down. Closer to actual Italian than the American-homestyle Italian places we have here in SB. They’ve opened the restaurant back up and take walk-ins but reservations are always great. They always have great specials that the waiters will guide you through, as well as a solid wine list for those who partake. I’ve been to Ciao’s quite a few times, but this latest time was just too good not to share. The bruschetta is a mainstay on the menu and is worth ordering. They give you free bread for the table and we got the spicy mussels to start - they were wonderfully fresh with a calm heat in the tomato sauce, would definitely order again. We ordered the special lamb plate and the scallops; both of us were basking in how divine both plates were! They even gave us more bread to sop up the leftover sauce. The owner who often comes and chats to everyone in the dining room is a true delight and remembers familiar faces; she works hard to make sure you have a smile on your face while you enjoy the food. I love Ciao’s and am so happy they have the dining room open!”

South Bend isn't exactly the easiest place to get super high grade fish to and they do it very well. They are by far the best Sushi in South Bend. The lunch value is incredible, $12 for 3 sushi rolls with soup and salad. You simply can't beat the quality and price.”

The gyoza is juicy and crispy on the bottom great flavor inside. They have a nice dipping sauce to go with it.
I would go back just for the gyoza by themselves, but everything else was great as well. This was my first time trying this place, but I'm going to be going back because everything I tried was great. The Ramen was great as well. I enjoyed the egg in it, and they had a lot of different toppings. Boba tea was great as well.

“Great contemporary modern style bar/lounge in the heart of Downtown South Bend. The interesting light fixtures and chill vibe make this a fun place to hangout and order a few drinks. There are board games you can play as well as a pool table and if you are lucky you can catch some live music. My wife and I love this place and as a bonus you can catch a live comedy show right in the same building. The only thing keeping this place from five stars are the prices as it's a hotel bar which means inflated prices and unfortunately as good as the food looks I cannot leave a review because I have not tried the food. They have four beer choices on tap usually with one eccentric flavor when we went it was Mango Wheat (Delicious by the way) and the bar tenders were very friendly with quick service, I highly recommend you check this place out!!”

“Great upmarket burger spot near Notre Dame. We ate here twice during our visit to campus. Good food and easy to access. It's on Eddy Street just a few doors down from the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore. There is a parking garage nearby with free two-hour parking. Burgers are all great, though if you don't want to rare a hamburger, ask for it medium well. I personally enjoyed the Burger Snack ... it's a smaller burger and just the right amount for lunch.”

If you're looking for a sports bar, this place is a 5.”

“Visiting South Bend and this place was across the street from my hotel so I decided to try it. While standing there looking at the menu and trying to two decide what to get another customer told me I should try the ribs. So I ordered the half rack of baby back ribs and they were absolutely amazing! The sauce was delicious and the meat was just falling off the bone. They came with fries coleslaw and French bread as well and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend. I would like to go back and try some other menu items.”
