GREAT food. As a regular the food has never disappointed. However some of the teen/youth staff acts weird towards customers, kind of off-putting, but the other half of the staff are always happy and friendly.

We visited late afternoon on May 9, 2026 and spent about $72 including tip. The food itself was very good and the staff initially seemed friendly.

Our order included pulled pork, rib tips, sliced brisket, mac & cheese, greens, baked beans, 2 cornbread, 1 drink, and beignets. During ordering, we were specifically asked whether we wanted the beignets “now or later,” so we chose later.

After finishing our meal, we went back inside to ask about the beignets because they never came out. My husband was then told they were never ordered. Since we clearly remembered being asked about timing for them, this was confusing and frustrating. We ended up paying for another order of beignets.

I’m not trying to cause problems, I just wanted to share the experience because it left us disappointed after what otherwise had been a good meal. A little more communication or accountability in that moment would have gone a long way.

I enjoyed this place. In the process of changing my eating habits(less meat),If I cheat I cheat here. Pulled pork sandwich is so good. Sometimes I just get sides. Broccoli salad, baked beans, and I never leave without a piece of cornbread.
Last time we were there we met a group that drove from Illinois somewhere to come eat there. That says something in it's self. Decent price, good taste, not a lot of vegan options but not expected either.

I've driven past this place for years but never stopped it. Was in the mood for BBQ one night, the original plan was to go to Mission BBQ, but this place was closer and I always wanted to try it. Came here last Tuesday around 6:25pm. They said they had just ran out of brisket, which I was planning on ordering. Instead I ordered a half lb each of turkey tips and pulled pork. I thought the prices and portions were fair, you could feed 2 ppl for $30. I tried the Kansas City sauce and the South Carolina sauce. They're both good and I will try the other ones next time I go in.

The best smoked meats in the 574. Everything from yardbird, to rib tips to turkey, pull pork and the pork belly. Well worth the drive from Waterford area.

Got the lunch special, Pulled pork sandwich piled high w/ 1 side and drink for $13. Fried onions in the sandwich were a nice touch. Great value.

Since I started working in South Bend we have ordered Fat Caps at least dozen times on Fridays. Their chicken wings and pulled pork are some of the best around. Cornbread is on another level.
