My husband took me here when I was visiting South Bend this summer. The restaurant and bakery is huge, we only stopped at the bakery to grab some snacks for the road and home.
There were so many options that it was hard to just pick what to take back for ourselves and our family. The woman helping us at the counter was so sweet and patient as I tried to narrow down my search. We settled on the gelato and cannolis. I was so happy to see our gelato packaged nicely for us to eat in the car and to be able to safely place it in the freezer when we got home without worrying that it would spill in the car.
The cannolis were eaten within seconds of bringing them home. I'd definitely come back again for the bakery and to eat at the restaurant too.

A must stop whenever I'm in town. Service today was expert. I appreciated being told the names of the pastries so I can order them again, by name. Excellent. We've enjoyed their pizza. Very good. We always leave with so many cookies and pastries. Decisions decisions. A busy place even mid-afternoon, but nice open atmosphere. Outdoor seating was very tempting today. Lovely patio.

A little gem I totally was surprised to find in South Bend. Apple bars and Cannoli are exceptional! Atmosphere, ambience top tier. I highly recommend this hidden jewel.

I am a huge fan of carrot cake, and the one from Macri's Italian Bakery is without a doubt the best I have ever had. The cake itself was unbelievably moist and perfectly spiced, with a wonderful texture from the fresh carrots. But the cream cheese frosting is what truly puts it over the top! It's rich, creamy, and has the perfect balance of sweetness and tang without being overwhelming.
Every bite was absolute perfection. This is now my go-to cake for every special occasion. If you're looking for an authentic, high-quality, and absolutely delicious carrot cake, look no further. Highly, highly recommended!

Good food and treats at very reasonable prices!
The smell alone walking in this place was phenomenal. We opted in for some sweet treats that did not disappoint. Can't wait to try the food! If you're looking for a hidden gem, THIS IS IT!

We paid over $400 on cakes for our wedding 2 weeks ago, and unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the outcome. We specifically requested buttercream icing, but the cakes were made with whipped icing instead.

Macri's was one of my favorite lunch spots while I was working downtown South Bend. Due to relocating to a new office, I don't eat there as much as I used to; however, I still stop in every once in a while, on my way home. Over the last 10 years, I've had a pleasant experience and was always greeted with a smile by the owner when he's there. When I'm picking up food on my way home, I call my order in and ask that they wait 15 minutes before starting due to working in Mishawaka. Today I called with the same request. I get there and my mozzarella sticks were already sitting there waiting to be picked up. I checked them to see if they were hot. They weren't. I informed the young lady my food isn't hot. She turns to the workers and says can you remake these. She didn't want her food to be ready when she got here. I said no, I want my food hot. I pay for my order and wait for them to be re-made. The young lady comes back and the owner, whom I always found to be pleasant (and I was smiling at him thinking I was going to have another pleasant exchange with him as usual), was in front of her. He gave me a nasty look. The young lady says next time wait until you get here to order. I said I asked that they wait 15 minutes to start the order. Before I could finish my sentence, the owner starts yelling at me wait until you get here to order, pointing down on the counter with force with his finger as he's speaking to me. I was taken back. I said you have never been mean to me. He says, I am today. The young lady said, I told him what happened. I responded maybe you shouldn't offer call ins if you cannot fulfill the orders properly. She attempted to go back and forth with me. I told her to have a good day, and I left. My feelings were hurt. I have patronized this business for years. When Dainty Maids closed, I started ordering my anniversary cakes from here. Needless to say, I will not return. The treatment I received today was rude and disrespectful for no reason.

Love it!!!! No complaints ❣️ I could come here every day but that’s not life at the moment but when I do baby I’m in heaven, The only thing I ask is for the ladies to please continue to make sure the doors are all the way close so the flies can stay away from the desserts! Otherwise we good I love your peanut butter cookies, Keep up the good work❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹

Went there to pick up desserts for a party I was attending. The counter person was super helpful and was very careful in the way she packed the items. Was it a little more expensive that the cheaper quality grocery store bakery? yes I was looking for quality items and I found it here. The items (I got a huge variety) were a huge hit.

This is the best bakery in town! Everyone is so friendly as soon as you walk in. The baked goods and pastries are beyond delicious. Their cannolis are our family’s favorite! Their pizza and pasta are next on our list to try. We can’t wait to go back!

This place was an unexpected delight. I heard they had good sweets, but there was so much more!
Just finished eating the homemade fettuccine I cooked at home - plain marinara, pepper, and Parmesan. So good, actual flavor and texture.
Then the desserts! The woman who helped me answered all of my 100 questions with extreme kindness. I got a tiramisu, coconut macrons, a tiny filled ice cream cone, Mexican wedding cakes, tiny turtle cheesecakes, an apple pie slice, a plain canoli, and a chocolate dipped canoli. And a big box of muffins for a housewarming party - a big hit! Run right now and get that chocolate canoli. It's huge, it'll last more than one tasting, and it's sooo good!
As was everything else!
Be prepared, it is so crowded on a Saturday.
