I got the j*** chicken with rice cornbread and greens. It was delicious ?! It was hard to find but you have to go back of the building to and go through the black doors to place the order.

I went because I seen they had j*** chicken wings. They told me I had to get rice and beans and whatever else as a side so I decided to get the pot roast instead and got mashed potatoes and yams. It was gross. All of it. For $17 the mashed potatoes was greasy and the yams had no flavor. I ate the pot roast. It was really dry and literally threw the rest of it away.

I used Uber Eats to get the food. Ordered wings with no sauce & they were spicy like j*** chicken or something like that. I couldn’t even eat 1 & I ordered 15. I ordered Chicken Alfredo with garlic bread. Bread was soggy & the rest was too salty like they dumped a container of salt in it. I should of just thrown the money in the garbage instead bcuz that’s where the food went. Very disappointed

Like someone else said, it's a little hard to find. There are two black doors on the south side of the Riverbend building and it's the single door on the left/corner. There currently isn't a lot of seating so I would recommend pickup or delivery. Staff was kind and the food was delicious!

The food was garbage for it to be soul food, they screwed my order up and upon me calling them to tell them how they messed up my order they told me they would have to charge extra to make my food correct, the Mac and cheese was dry and had no cheese in it at all it was very dry, the chicken is under cooked and they was out of everything, I will not waste my time or money with these people again I highly suggest nobody else does either, it was a waste of time and they took all Day to prepare the food, I kinda wish I had two more arms so I can give this place a four thumbs down

Slowest most unorganized place I’ve ever been. The wait time was 30 min. The two guys working had no organization skills, no care was given into the process of putting the order together. Never again.

I absolutely loved the food! I ordered the j*** steak which came with cabbage and rice. I also ordered a side of plantains. The steak was tender. The cabbage was seasoned perfectly. The plantains were delicious. But the star of the show to me was the rice! I couldn’t put my finger on the seasoning used, but it was the best red beans and rice that I’ve ever eaten!The gentleman that cooked our food during our lunch break was very warm and friendly.If you are on a time crunch, I would suggest that you order ahead because this food is fresh and made to order.

We got chicken bones dipped in liquid smoke this time. Will be our last order. First time was so good we thought we found our fav carribean place, then it was hit or miss. Till now. Done n done.

The service was horrible. I placed my order at 6:48. It was supposed to be ready at 7:18. I arrived at 7:29 as the place is hard to find because the the building says something else( which would have been nice to know) I called inside and was TOLD where to park and my order woul be "right out" 30 minutes later I called back inside and was told I didn't know you were waiting. Huh?? On top of that I was told "were out of turkey chops" sooo....you're just now attempting to make my order at 8 o'clock that should have been ready 45 minutes ago AFTER I've been waiting 30 minutes already?? I ultimately ended up requesting a refund and going elsewhere. With service this horrible who knows what the food would have tasted like anyway. So much for supporting a black "business"
This place is OUTSTANDING!!! Everything from the meatloaf to the fried chicken will blow your mind. And don’t get me started on the Mac and cheese. Look…I had to meet the cook that day… who happened to be the owner. Found out she’s a Chicago south side native like me. That explained it. We don’t play about our food… especially soul food. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. I would post a pic but we ate it all LOL. I’ll be back!!

Friendly and wonderful service! Picked up two meals of Southern Fried Chicken dinner and the Caribbean J*** Chicken. The Southern Fried Chicken is the best fried chicken around. Enjoyed the chicken with the delicious yams and collard greens. If you want comfort food, this is the place to eat. Huge helpings that can be shared. Our 2nd meal of Caribbean J*** Chicken was also delicious. Substituted the rice for mashed potatoes along with the cabbage. Both meals came with a large piece of corn bread!For dessert, we tried the banana pudding and lemon cake! Superb! You cannot go wrong picking up dinner here for an evening of comfort food!
