Very laid back feeling

I came here with a couple of friends and had a nice time. The bartender asked our drink orders right away, but getting them took some time. We also ordered a charcuterie board, and that also took some time to receive. The drinks were good and the artwork in the bathroom was cool. Overall, I had a nice time.

If you’re coming here for drinks pay attention to what’s on your tab, especially if you are in a bigger group. My friends and were double charged for drinks/shots that were put on multiple tabs but should have only been one bill… bar tenders weren’t overly interested in figuring out the charges and insisted bills were correct. Friends and I figured out the next day we got overcharged by $40 by comparing receipts.

Great bar staff. Excellent cocktails. Killer small plates. They have it all.

This is one of the best bourbon bars I have ever been to. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and very attentive. The selection is out of this world! Got to talk with the owner for awhile. He is extreamly knowledgeable and very kind. I will 100% be back many more times!

I had my first horrible experience at Hammer and Quill. We came in with 4 and we were having a hard time figuring out what we wanted. I didn’t want to hold up the server as she looked a bit annoyed already so I ordered the Aperol Spritz. It was terrible. I asked to have it remade bc it wasn’t fizzy at and tasted weirdly sweet. I figured it didn’t have enough Prosecco in it (they actually used blanc de blanc for some reason)? She told me that “there is already a lot of Prosecco in it”. She basically refused to remake it or take it off the bill. I was pretty shocked so I just told her I wasn’t in a drinking mood anyway and left it on the table. Looking back what probably happened is their Blanc de Blanc went flat.

Then my pretzels came out. The pretzels themselves were a little over salted but ok overall. The cheese was a disgusting. It was runny and chunky at the same time. She never came back for our tab so we left the amount in cash for our empty drinks and left. This was severely disappointed as I knew Hammer and Quill for their great cocktails prior to this. Needless to say I will not be back.

Bartender that was working on Friday June 8 at 8:00 was not friendly at all. Our first time here . She was very rude. Won’t be back

Nice little place with good drinks at a mid range price.

We visited with a group of 20-30 people. The atmosphere was a bit loud, but that's to be expected. The owner was friendly and professional. Nice place!

This drink was outstanding! I love fall and fall themed drinks, so this sweet potato, black walnut, and marshmallow combination was phenomenal! Seasonal, nostalgic, and deliciousNext time I'm in South Bend, I'm making it a point to stop back.

One of my favourite South Bend bars. Excellent, innovative cocktails and a regular rotation of local artists makes for a pleasant ambience. Outside sidewalk seating make this a central location for the increasingly hip East Bank neighborhood. A few simple, quality light meals are available if you need something to nibble on

Parking: Usually ample free on street parking within half a block.

An amazing find. THE place to relax and get a great cocktail in South Bend. The vibe/feel is unmatched. The owner (who is front and center) and the other bartenders are true pros. Fun. Funny. Knowledgeable. Every one I met.The detail in the design work in the bar is like nothing I’ve ever seen. The wall made of whiskey barrels, the concrete bar, the brick wall, the penny tile (real pennies) … it’s unique and special.By far, the best bar we have found in south bend or mishawaka. Not a sports bar. No $2 beers. Just great drinks and great people.
