What an amazing piece of history. This one room school house is open to see, and as an added bonus, they sell ice cream. The lady working there was so nice. They do accept credit cards but I highly recommend paying in cash. Their grounds are covered in historic pieces and lots of beautiful flowers. Will definitely return!

My wife and I went after we spent some time at the cataract falls. The ice cream is very delicious and it is reasonably priced as well! It's a very cool atmosphere and to look around at an old school house is very neat and eye opening. The parking is limited, but definitely worth finding a spot to go in and check it out. I would most likely visit this place again if I'm in the town.

Owen county pothole is the best ice-cream I've found in a long time
Had heard how amazing the ice cream is, went in and a woman with long grey hair with it in her face was serving and then she wiped her nose with the grove she had on to serve. DISGUSTING!! I LEFT..

Super cool little piece of history! And great ice cream to boot. They were doing a bit of reconstruction, so it wasn't organized as it usually is for its full "school room" setup, but still fascinating to see how much original infrastructure and materials were in the space from over 100 years ago.The lady we spoke to was very kind and knowledgeable about the different items. It made for a great time we weren't even originally looking for.
We stopped here after visiting Cataract Falls. They have pretty good ice cream and it goes to restoring the old schoolhouse. The lady who owns it now is working hard to get it registered as a historical site. They still have a lot of the original items used while it was open.
The ice cream here was great and cheap! I got the cherry amaretto! They have a great selection on flavors!
Thank you for the fun visit, and the wonderful ice cream. We'll see you soon!

They have the best unique ice cream flavors! We definitely enjoyed it! A must stop by place, decorated nicely! The inside takes you back in time😊
This area is a hidden gem! A trip back in time, the history of the schoolhouse as well as artifacts are a mini-museum. They also have a diverse assortment of ice creams, sundaes, and snacks. We had the blackberry ice cream...rich cream and ribbons of berry. Sooo good! An old fashioned hot dog was also enjoyed with red pepper relish and spicy mustard. Gotta try the banana cream pie ice cream next time. Absolutely charming owner and place!
Such an awesome place!! Would be great for homeschoolers and field trips. The ice cream... Ooooh the ice cream. Our favorites are Blackberry and Butter Pecan.
