The food is amazing every time we order. We order from here every week and sometimes two or three times a week. Highly recommend! Love this place and the owner
I went in the other day on my way to a meeting. I ordered a small queso with my salsa and chips. The question was everything you need questions to be, thick, a little spice but very creamy with no lumps and very fresh. I then ordered the elote (corn) it was different than I'm used to (from Chicago). It was very sweet and seemed like it was missing an ingredient or two. I then ordered a chicken torta because I Love tortas. This one was served with a thick bread not sure if it was toasted. I did not taste the toast if it were. The chicken was grilled and flavored. It came with the basics meat, beans, mayo, lettuce, tomatoe and avacado. I would go back to try the tacos or a burrito just because the queso was so GOOD.
It really doesn't have an atmosphere. But the food is good (had the carnitas twice, the first time they were delicious, the second time they were dry). If you go during lunchtime, the prices are amazing. Dinner size portions for lunch prices.
Food was okay it was just overpriced. Taco Picante should come with rice and beans too. 13 dollars for three small street tacos is ridiculous!
I stumbled upon this hidden gem accidentally. It looked super cute so o course added it to my Try list. We hate crowds so went on a Monday afternoon 230ish. Only occupant was one worker. A young man who was very welcoming. I ordered the carne asada with flour tortillas. Dude ordered Jalisco bowl. The salsa was hella bland. A baby could've drank it. But knowing local palettes think a chili bean is too spicy, I am resigned to receiving limp salsa by now. The food didn't take long and came out sizzlin n lookin sexxxy. The shrimp from the bowl was perfectly cooked! That's very impressive and a rarity in my experience. Often they are curled up tight as a fist and rubbery enough to bounce. My steak oh ho! Well cooked, seasoned. The blistered jalapeno on top may have been the best part. Next time I'd order like half a dozen. The beans were good, texture n taste. The rice was good. However, the bowl did have the stupid Chinese vegetables that are apparently a requirement for any restaurant rice now. WHYYYYY
They seasoned the rice well enough those ugly lil bits weren't discernable in the taste so thankful for that at least.
This place was spanking clean. The menus were slick and the joint is surprisingly tech savvy with an app as well as a rewards program! Very impressive. Def recommend this restaurant. The food was the best Mexican fare we've had in awhile. ;)
Ridiculously expensive!!!
Hands down, absolute best Mexican in town! First and foremost want to THANK YOU for being the only Mexican restaurant in town that doesn’t wreak of Fabuloso. THANK YOU!!!!!! Secondly, but truly, my entire family loves the food here. I had the California Burrito, huge and delicious…. Juicy steak and fries, and pico and guac all wrapped up, amazing. We especially love the fresh churros and cheesecake burritos!!!! Outstanding service! Love everything at Picante!

This quiet little place is tucked away in downtown Valparaiso.
I'm so happy that my husband found it. I always get the same dish because it's my favorite. They have the best steak tacos, beans & rice around. It's authentic good Mexican food. Not fancy americanized fusion. The service is always a 10. It's a relaxed atmosphere & always clean & the staff is very friendly. No alcohol is served here. So come here for a great meal & stop off downtown for your after dinner drinks. You won't be disappointed.

Did both dine in and take out. Loved everything about our meal and my daughter ate her chicken quesadilla the next day and then asked when we can go back.

It’s a bit pricey. 14 dollars for 3 tacos and no rice and beans? That’s crazy ! But I will say the gringo tacos were delicious and the cheese sauce was amazing !

What a great spot. We spent the day at the water park and randomly came here on our way back to my in-laws. It was great! I got a burrito with steak and shrimp and it was great. My wife got the Molcajete Platter which was really the star of the table. Hot stone bowl and the flavors were amazing.
The guacamole was awesome too.
Kids meals were solid and the service was great too.
We will definitely return next time we are in town!
Kid-friendliness: Kids menu is small but worked well!
