“Came here with my wife and some friends . At first it started off a little rocky , they have two servers one for wine and one for food . So we sat for quite a few minutes before the wine server came by . They do not have beer or cocktails and she didn’t offer any water . Then the food server came over and got us going with some water and appetizers. The bread was really good ! I liked the oil they have with it. I had the lasagna and it was by far the best I have ever had . The meatballs were huge and delicious! My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs and she loved it ! For dessert we had the fruity pebbles cheesecake, that was amazing also ! I will definitely return !”
“Had a wonderful dinner there last night. Tried three different entrées and three different desserts all of which were absolutely fantastic. The port wine blew my mind and my server Logan Was incredibly knowledgeable of all the different offerings!”
“I’ve eaten inside before and was blown away with the food and drinks. Today I decided to order to-go and I can confirm that the food is just as good as eating in. Absolutely delicious - I never was huge into sushi but I could eat their “Should Have Been A Cowboy” sushi any day. 10/10”
“1st time eating here. It will not be my last. My server, Roxanne was great. Loved the atmosphere. I sat at a table in the bar area. I ordered the mussel appetizer, they were the best mussels. The mussels are cooked in a garlic white wine sauce with sautéed cherry tomatoes, served with toasted bread. For dinner I had 4 buttermilk battered butterflied jumbo shrimp. These shrimp were cooked to perfection! I also had 2 pieces of cod, along with creamiest cole slaw. The meal also came with a hush puppy, crunchy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside and a side of French fries. I live 1.5 hours away, but I will drive here for the delicious seafood. I can hardly wait to try their crab Rangoon sushi roll, seafood pasta dishes and pretzel with jalapeño cheese sauce. If you are in the area, or not, this place is a must try!Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs, parking on street.”
“The food was great ( rich, high-quality Italian food), and our server Cheyenne was on top of her game! Our party of six was able to be seated quickly, as they have ample seating. I ordered the appetizer sampler to split, and it was exactly what I had hoped for... Crispy fried ravioli and mozzarella, buttery garlic shrimp and well prepared calamari. Their Italian beef was really well seasoned and generous amounts of meat. I highly recommend! YUM!On a previous visit I tried their tiramisu and loved that too.”
“Best Prime Rib in the area. The portobello mushroom with crab is a delicious way to start the meal. Then select one of their butcher block or seafood options and end with one of several desserts. You can't go wrong ending with the chocolate covered cow. My daughter loves to pick Kelseys as her birthday meal.”
“The food and atmosphere are great. I've never had a problem with the service so I don't have much to say about that. They will make any taco into a salad, and that is game changer! It is a fantastic meal and really feels so fresh! Its a fun twist on tacos, I like the style they have created! Would go for the experience. Both the Valparaiso and Crown Point locations are fantastic.”
“Great food! Just strange situation. The 9pm time google has listed is incorrect. Was told when I called in at 8pm that the kitchen is probably closed for a sesame chicken to-go order . The hostess came back and asked if that’s all it would be. I said yes, just that one entree with a side of spinach. Apparently the spinach tipped the scale bc I was told they couldn’t do my order ?”
“This small place off calumet, or old 49, depending on how you remember Valpo, is a gem. It’s really small, so make reservations. The size also means it gets a little loud when it fills up, which it will. The menu is limited, changes weekly, and is delicious. I had a tasty salad and my wife kicked off with a soup she really liked (I can’t remember what she had). Then the main course came. I should point out that they have a butcher shop where you can Wagyu steak by the ounce, but it was $24 an ounce. Unless I could actually speak to the Wagyu cow and discuss Japanese Bovine American relations, it was just too steep for that evening. I did get the non-Wagyu filet, and it was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were good too. My bride got the Mahi Mahi, not usually a fish person, and she loved it. We will be going back. I should mention that the service was great. There is Joi Di Vie amongst the staff and it makes The Bait Shop a fun place to go.”
“Had dinner here a few weeks ago and still day dreaming about it. Started with one of the specials, they were goat cheese stuffed mushroom caps in a velvety red sauce sprinkled with a crunchy nuts, absolutely delicious. My husband had the filet and it was cooked to perfection. The asparagus was charred and seasoned just right. Storm is a beyond EXCELLENT server and we can’t wait to come back! The stuffed avocado is great for vegetarians!”
“Very spacious restaurant and no matter how many people in the restaurant the tables are spaced nicely so it is not too loud. This is one of really only two restaurants in Valparaiso that we feel comfortable bringing our grandchild. The food is good with enough options for everyone. In the summer the outside dining has wonderful views. It ranks a 7 on Jim's Chicago rating system.”
“First time visiting. We were there for dinner last Friday night. It is a lovely environment. Our server was fantastic. Menu was great. Chips and salsa were delicious. House margarita was very good. My husband had the lobster tacos that were very good, and tried one barbacoa taco that he thought was wonderful. I had the steak and shrimp dinner that was also terrific. The steak was so tender, came with 4 very large shrimp and grilled peppers and small salad. The sauce was very good. Homemade corn tortillas were on point. Overall great experience and we look forward to coming back soon. Highly recommended!”
“Can’t say enough about how great this place is. From the owner Justin to the product. Food is delicious and helps me meet my macros. The staff feel like family! :)”
“Kaitlyn was our server and she was the sweetest and friendliest person. She checked on us and made sure we always had what we needed without being pushy or obnoxious. Definitely will go see her again!!!!”
“I had a beef Cheddar and tried Chicago dog. The wife had Italian beef, and they really needed more mozzarella on her sandwich. Otherwise, both of us enjoyed our food. We will return to this establishment. Felt prices were reasonable.”
“Great beer and even better service! Tried 5 beers (though you can get a flight of up to 8)- and the American Wheat and Doppelbock were my favorites. Don't miss this spot!”
“My man Rick has some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. He not only demonstrated how amazing this place is at making ciders/Wines but he recommended places for us to eat for a nice dinner later and made us feel like family. We are 100% coming back and asking for Rick. We don’t even care that the drive is 1 hour and 15 minutes. He’s worth it! And the CIDER IS TOO.”
“Hidden Gem steak restaurant in Valparaiso! Excellent service and food for our first time at this lovely find! Our server Julia was excellent and kind. We ordered French onion soup to start and it was very good with lots of flavor! For our entrees we orders the 8 oz filet cooked to our liking with a loaded baked potato. Dessert was excellent as we ordered Crème Brûlée and Tiramisu. The Tiramisu plate was almost too beautiful to eat!The atmosphere was quaint and quiet! We already made reservations to return!”
“Stopped in for breakfast before running errands. Service was super sweet, food came fast and it was DELICUOUS. Can't beat it for then price either. Just another reason Schoop's has been a long time favorite.”
“Food was awesome just like the staff and the atmosphereVegetarian options: Good size vegetarian selectionDietary restrictions: Add or take away any ingredientParking: Good amount of parking spotsKid-friendliness: Kids menu and cool atmosphereWheelchair accessibility: It accomodates wheelchairs”
“First time here, food was good! They were a little busy and our server warned us service might be slow, but it was great; I think everyone working there had checked in on us at least once before we left.”
“I love Lincoln Kitchen. I have not yet tried everything, but I'm working my way through the huge menus. Eric is so helpful, both in recommending great choices and in helping newbies navigate the process. We have dined on Indian food, Mexican food and some wonderful sandwhiches. All were freshly made for us, fast and easy. Everything tasted wonderful - Ruben's to die for, Mango Curry. Ymmm. The best thing is that everyone in the family can get what they want, in one stop - with easy parking and easy access! And better yet, now you can even eat inside, if you are on the run, and want a quick bite before continuing your busy day! Since they deliver, we are excited to use them for an upcoming work event - and get a special catering menu together - maybe a Mac and Cheese bar! Can't wait. Give them a try!”
“The food is always delicious here. Never had a bad meal. My fiancée and I usually go for special occasions. Love sitting at the bar and watching the kitchen flow like an orchestra. My favorite restaurant.”
“We had a great dinner last night! The cocktails are fantastic & the service was top notch. The food is quite good and the menu does include some creativity. This is a unique experience that you will not likely find anywhere else!”
“Food is good but the ambiance could be better. I do appreciate that this place is open on Sundays and Mondays which is something that is lacking in Valpo. The lighting is harsh and is not inviting. There is also always a cart of dirty dishes near the bar. I'm not sure why this has to be there. I understand it is convenient for them, but it is a horrible look to have dirty dishes sitting in the middle of the restaurant right next to guest seating areas.”
“Bought a trash can, of all things. It was on the shelf listed at $24.99, went to self check out (which I am NOT a fan of) the can rang up at $99.00! So we deleted it which prompted someone to come over and assist us. We told them the issue and after some time, they came back and said they were making it right, and changed the price to $24.99. Amazing customer service and dedicated to "making it right" I love this Meijer.”
“We’ve only been twice since moving back to the area but each time was great. We sat on the rooftop each time and they frequently have the cutest themes. Food and drinks are always so good!”
