“Try the Chefs of Steel Burger. Hands down tops every burger I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and don't read the ingredients, because it's so much better than it sounds. Just incredible how those flavors meld into that. Wow. Unbelievable.“
“Our son just recently moved to Valpo and we found this gem of a restaurant! The menu has many options and the food is excellent! Service is excellent! It is the first restaurant I have found that if you order a salad to go, the to go salad is every bit as big as the one you get when you are ordering in. That is so unusual and so appreciated! “This small place off calumet, or old 49, depending on how you remember Valpo, is a gem. It’s really small, so make reservations. The size also means it gets a little loud when it fills up, which it will. The menu is limited, changes weekly, and is delicious. I had a tasty salad and my wife kicked off with a soup she really liked (I can’t remember what she had). Then the main course came. I should point out that they have a butcher shop where you can Wagyu steak by the ounce, but it was $24 an ounce. Unless I could actually speak to the Wagyu cow and discuss Japanese Bovine American relations, it was just too steep for that evening. I did get the non-Wagyu filet, and it was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were good too. My bride got the Mahi Mahi, not usually a fish person, and she loved it. We will be going back. I should mention that the service was great. There is Joi Di Vie amongst the staff and it makes The Bait Shop a fun place to go.“
“Enjoyed drinks, food good, . service mediocre. After dinner we were visiting with our friends. I'm assuming it was the manager, ( he didn't ID himself) he came to our table & said there was a party of 8 that was edgy & waiting to be seated. ( they do not take reservations). He asked us to move to another table, so they could seat the party of 8. Manager said he would like to give us a $10 gift card but never came back. It was really all about how he approached us. Quite rude & awkward for us. If you're going to comp a customer you should do it. A young man from the party of 8 came over & thanked us. He had more class & manners then the manager or who ever he was.Manager ruined our first experience there..“
“The variety of beer Kevin provides to his guests is outstanding. Super chill atmosphere with a home town feel to it. Come cool down with a nice ipa or warm up with a stout. Great service and good vibes every time I walk in the door. Highly recommend for big groups and cute date nights. Really laid back with outside food. I recommend ordering stacks and eating it here. You won’t regret it!“
“Had the Italian sausage sandwich on a recent visit. Nice seasoning and cooked nicely.The onion soup was tasty and not overly salty. A nice layer of cheese baked over the top and full of onions.Nice place to hit after a round of golf at Aberdeen.“
“I recommend sitting down in this little dive bar and enjoying their tacos along with the environment. I did and it was great. The bartender was very prompt and inviting. The bar had quite a few people sitting down at it but the booths were readily available and there is plenty of room. If I'm ever back in the area I'm definitely stopping in again and I hope it's sometime soon.“
“My husband & I decided to pop in after a date night at The Press a few stores down. We came in about an hour before close, guy up front asked about our preferred seating(at the bar, table, or booth) & did not rush us at all while looking at the menu, or when I had questions. All the staff was incredibly kind, friendly, polite & attentive. So much so, I'm writing a review. Which I've never done for food service. I got the brisket Mac, & a the pretzel app. Whatever mustard sauce they gave us? Delicioussss. I wanted a tub to take home. The mac n cheese was a lil' watery, maybe juices from the brisket?? Idk. But it was still rlly good. Bottom line, i loveee this place. Adore the staff & their great service.“
“Love duffys so much! It's a classic local pub. You can go there have a great time wether it's drinking or if you want to eat the food is great. “Food is good but the ambiance could be better. I do appreciate that this place is open on Sundays and Mondays which is something that is lacking in Valpo. The lighting is harsh and is not inviting. There is also always a cart of dirty dishes near the bar. I'm not sure why this has to be there. I understand it is convenient for them, but it is a horrible look to have dirty dishes sitting in the middle of the restaurant right next to guest seating areas.“
“Their wings are special. I haven't been there in a while. The last time I had a different experience. This time the traditional wings were excellent. Crispy, hot and some of the best sauces I've ever had. Mondays the wings are specially priced and you can order however many you would like....any number! Our service was great. My wife tried the chicken wedge salad. She liked it but there could have been more chicken to the order. We will be back!“

“One of my favorite restraints ever. We lived in valpo 10-15 years ago and enjoyed this restaurant often. We were just back last night and it was even better. 5 people were in our group, all got very different items, all were off the chart good. I had the steak salad. It was the best salad I have. ever had. I recommend this place often and they never disappoint.“
