I love the Shady Creek Winery in Michigan City, so I was excited to see the Trailyard opened in Valparaiso. This restaurant has it's own appeal in vibe that differs from Shady Creek with it's industrial frame, outdoor fire pits, and patio swings. It's very pleasant, and I love that you can get cocktails and beer here as well along with the standard wines served at Shady Creek. And honestly, I think the food may be better... at least the fries.

I had a great experience here! The patio is very cute, and the food was fantastic! I had the pesto veggie risotto, and it was full of flavor, and I’m not even a vegetarian! My date really like his sandwich and “fries,” but they were definitely more like potato wedges. I do wish they had at least one more basic appetizer, like cheese curds, but that’s obviously not what they’re going for. The wine was good. Prices are ok for a date night, but a little high for a casual dinner

Trailyard is a new favorite. My wife and I wandered in for my birthday lunch today and grabbed a great spot on the back patio. The melted Tuna sandwich is amazing. Some places served melted Tuna as more of a hot canned tuna sandwich, but this is a full slab of tuna cooked right, guac, the works. The brussel sprouts are fantastic. If you are in to sweeter wines (as are we) they have a great selection. Service was also great. Valpo has a lot of great spots for food, but Trailyard is also just a great all around experience.

We were at Trailyard for dinner on a Wednesday. The restaurant looks great and there is a large outside seating area. There is a large wine selection and tastes are available. Our server, Brittany was friendly and very helpful with wine recommendations. I enjoyed my fish and chips and my girlfriend really liked the grouper.

Beautiful spot with lots of outdoor space with bench swings, games, and even a couple of fire pits. The food and drinks all seemed pretty good as well.
I recently tried the steak burger and was pleasantly surprised. the burger was hearty and cooked nicely with just a bit of char showing it was freshly grilled and NOT out a bag. The veg on the burger was all fresh and flavorful. the price for a burger, fries, and a drink was also very fair. based only on this one dish I would recommend this establishment. I look forward to trying more.

Everything about this place was fabulous. Very family friendly. Our server, Brittany, was extremely pleasant, super attentive, and very knowledgeable about the food and wine. The filet medallions was delicious. The bananas foster dessert was awesome. We will definitely come back.

Hostess was not very welcoming and rude…showed up around 4:30 Saturday with no resverations. She said it was going to be a 15-20 min wait..ok no problem. After a few minutes I went up to her and asked her if there was a bar around to get a drink. She said well I dont want to sit you in there so we dont over crowd the area. I wasn’t looking to sit in there, I just want a drink. She then said well what are you looking for? All with attitude. Instead of actually listening to what I was asking her answers were already made up in her mind that she wasn’t looking to help. We left and went else where.
